I dipped back into the darker "minimal psy" space this week and used the Polyend Tracker with a dose of "saturated" overdrive to make a crunchy beat. I then layered cosmic horror chords over it -- I improvised those on an iPad running Animoog (been a long time since I dusted off that old gem!) and added reverb to it in a DAW. The Polyend Tracker beat is mostly untouched, but I did use Ozone 10 on the final master to boost the loudness of the whole thing.
When I have time I'll learn FMS, but this week was too crazy. For now I'm falling back on old habits.
