Acid Birds

By parappayo on May 5, 2026 3:48 am

This is an experimental one for me, but pretty simple. I ran a TT-606 and TT-78 together with different tempo to create a slowly drifting polyrhythm. Then I played a TT-303 over it (Boss DS-1X for distortion here) and tweaked the tempo knob to create acid chirps kinda like birds. I could have done a better job but meh, life is stressful and I need the time for work. All mixed in Bitwig with Lush chords added.

Lovely lush chords on this one.

That 808 is bonkers. I love the DS-1X super under rated pedal.

Excellent (ab)use of the 303. I love how it adds the crazy energy to an otherwise tranquil track.

haha, it does sound like a colorful acid bird fluttering around in trees. The echo makes it feel like there's a bunch of them too. It conjures humid and green rainforest images for me because of the soomthe chords and gentle percussion. Very cool track, I quite like it. Adding to my favorites.

I've been using a BOSS - BD-2 for my 303 stuff as of late. I feel like it's underated for a bit of the dirty acid sound. I used it on my Remix for Gesceap's Reselector album recently. I had been using a Rat clone but never quite liked it. Your DS-1 sounds quite good here too. Very wooly.

Boss BD-2 is my fav. I like to branch out and experiment but my tried and true pedals for 303 acid are BD-2 and JHS Packrat. If I could only keep two, those would be my pick. But the quest for viable alternatives continues nonetheless.

Choice selections. Could argue with those at all smile
