Glacial Awakening

By Parallelis on January 12, 2014 5:59 pm

Currently I'm working on a split EP with the artist Segami, this track just may be on it. It's a song about winter, isolation, the beauty of the natural world, and change.

the shoegazey vibe on this one is cool!  pleasantly clean mix, too.

Well done. Spacey vocals, appropriately simple chord progressions, and a refined sense of atmosphere carry this track through nicely until the very end. Great work!

dig the vocal harmonies man

lovely sounds icey yet warm good work

Great! Love the layers and the ebb and flow.

nice sound, what do you use for mixing/mastering?

The arrangement is excellent, but to take it to the next level try sidechaining some of the guitar textures against the drums, some of the percussion elements are getting buried in the mix.

Another big thing that will really take this to the next level is, correct your vocal pitch, with autotune (the way it was meant to be used) or something else thats on that level. I'm not saying this as a criticism to the style you have I'm just saying that if you want a really beautiful track, do it. I use it on all my vocals and its just part of getting that heavens sound, harmony's that lock in and sound amazing.

Ooooooh atmosphere.  I like it.

@ntrval I use Ableton for everything: recording, arranging, mixing, mastering, etc.  I'm terrible at mixing/mastering I mostly do it by ear at this point because it usually turns out better than when I try it based on levels etc.

@CK thanks for the feedback! I don't have any good vocal processor plug-ins (pitch correctors, autotune, etc) but I'll definitely look into it. I'm the first to admit that I'm not the best singer.

i really like how the water and uke almost become one sound.  Almost sounds like the water is strumming.  Maybe it's intentional, but the drums are slightly lost in the mix.  Maybe a bit more of the kick? But that's my .02 smile  Love how it fades out again with the water.  Well done!

Drowning isn't as bad as you'd think, as long as it's reverb instead of water.

I heart Reverb

Glad I got to comment on this before next lot of songs are out. I really love this. Wonderful vibe and subtly recorded. Good work!
