Anthony Goes Low and Slow (and Then Very Fast)

By PantherMountain on January 26, 2020 7:53 am

Part of this was abandoned years ago as an attempt to kick writers block (unsuccessfully).

Trashed everything I had except the first 4 bars and the little transition lick to the fast part.  Wrote and tracked everything else on Monday, and have been tweaking with the mix all week.  Wanted to dip into my extremely neglected boutique pedal drawer on this one.  Picked some good stuff

Guitars - Ormsby Hype GTR 7
Distortion Pedals - Dunable Complete Distorter (Right Guitar), Prodigal Sound Kali (Left Guitar) | Frost Giant Kurokohi (additional guitars).
Additional Pedals - Airis Effects Portal Drive, Origin Effects Cali76 Compressor, Walrus Julia & Slo, Earthquaker Dispatch Master
Amp - Revv D20
Bass - Fender Aerodyne through Parallax plug in
Drums - Superior Drummer 3

Not sure what the plan is for next week.  We shall see on Monday!

damn dude, you destroyed this- some legit beautiful moments, and everything sounds great. Loved it a lot

whats with me ?

The phrase "extremely neglected boutique pedal drawer" infuriates me for some reason. Great track tho!

I know, it sounds pretentious, but it's quite true.  I tried to kick my writers block last year by swooping up all sorts of cool, unique pedal builds from instagrame builders with no luck.

That being said, I've already recorded more songs in a month than I did all of last year, so glad Weekly Beats helped more than the pedals did

Oh no, I didn't think it was pretentious, I'd just have those bad boys set up all the time.

I would need a second desk set up to do that sad

hell yeah, this tone. I like it when Anthony Goes Very Fast, great playing

Really dig this. There's a lot of colorful, emotive chords in this. Reminds me of a cross between Mare and Cult of Luna. Somewhere in that realm. Or maybe Jesu?

I hear the unintentional Cult of Luna in the third part with the palm mutes / triplets for sure, so glad you picked up on it too

hell yeah!  love metal instrumentals like this.  im hearing vibes of Russian Circles.  GTR7s are sick as fuck too, congrats on owning one haha

Definitely a lot of Russian Circles influences in here too (one of my top five favorite bands).  And I love my Ormsby.  I had two wait 2 years for it due to all the Rosewood issues, but it was totally worth it.  Such a beast of a guitar for the price

Killing the tonez as usual!

You're definitely doing that, and it's wild.

This is great sludgy metal, I really dig it!

I totally agree, nice gear is super fun, but useless if you don't play a lot/try to record stuff.

Anyways, Powerful, wide song. I love guitars and it sounds like you do too.
