Washed Up

Music is where you find it. Also, I think this is the closest to "dance music" as I've ever been.
I was in the studio last week, and a load of laundry was going in the other room. I suddenly noticed that it had a pretty good beat. I recorded a few minutes of it, and this track popped out in short order. It was nice to do something fast after beating my head against last week's track.
I like to try and experiment with something new in each track - in this case, it was using Logic's adaptive tempo. I didn't beat mach the washing machine sound, but rather allowed the project tempo to flow with it while keeping all my midi locked to the grid. I've noticed that in Gary Numan's work before - that the electronic music is more organic because it isn't locked to a click.
I also played around with the Remix multi effect. I've been wanting to try it out, and man is it fun. It's a lot like a strong spice in cooking - a little goes a long way - but man does it inject energy into a track.

Samples from "The Last Word in Automatic Dishwashing", public domain (I thought it went with the washing machine well).
