Number Station #8

By Paisleyfrog on March 8, 2024 1:38 am

MRDRCAT's post last week reminded me of the work I've done in the past that was inspired by number stations*, so I decided to revisit that. This is Number Station #8 because I've done a few other tracks along these lines (although I borrowed elements of this from Number Station #5).

I mainly use it as an excuse to mix vaguely ambient and sparse melodic elements. The numbers were generated online via a random number generator, and then I dumped them to an audio file via normal text to speech.

I love the ethereal processing on the voice! Very hypnotic. When the solo hits at 2:26 I was like 'Awww yeeeahhhh' - the whole thing is refreshingly simple without being simplistic, and there are a lot of thoughtful touches (the guitar for example) that keep it compelling.
I'm digging some ambient with a strong beat. Probably more industrial at that point, but hey I love that too!

Really like the slow chill vibes here, kind of detached but awesome

fun idea! nice execution, perfect combo of artsy fartsy and nice background listen due to the beat

Very ominous, but also very chill with that guitar.
