Well done! and well said. I feel like part of the magic of all of this is hearing that someone liked something you weren't sure about, and learning why. Thanks for sharing these words - I really needed to hear them lately.

I totally relate to the idea of not liking something while you're working on it but then enjoying it quite a bit after it's finished. You put it in better words than I've been able to because I haven't even though about how unproductive it is to be so critical of a piece of work until you finish it. I guess sometimes I felt like maybe my frustration or disdain with working on a song somehow made it better in the end but I could be wrongly attributing that to is success. Also the cooking metaphor is good because I just made some chipotle chicken burritos that my girlfriend and her friends really like but I don't like them at all, lol.

Also, those bass strings sound suspiciously fresh ;D lol. Great bassline, sounds really nice having that sharp attack with the pick.  Nice guitar layers to build upon the vibe (one even sounds kind of surfy), and I especially like the horns for building up the texture and ambiance.

I enjoy the ongoing trumpet exploration and how you leverage the tone it brings to a rock track. It really adds a smooth sound that in retrospective i am surprised is not used more often in alternative rock. I also enjoyed a lot the surf rock like guitar (the danelectro?) towards the end - I have been watching some westerns recently, so that was perfect. This is a good driving track, with its persistent beat and hypnotic lines.

Regarding the creation, for me it's more about the act itself of creating. The end product is in a way an afterthought, a shadow of the act. It's like the native american paintings with sand that then get erased. It's all about giving a voice to the subconscious, regardless of how ugly or unelegant it may want to be saying. Therefore, from my perspective, a track works if it felt it was really coming from something deep, and resonated with myself during the creation. This is very important especially when the track was recently done. This memory tends to vanish over time and, revisiting old tracks can be a pleasant surprise (as it resonates with a different part) or unpleasant (i thought it was so good when i made it but now... kinda meh).

This is Monday, go lace your running shoes again!

Really enjoyable and the trumpets add a sense of warmth against the driving rock pulses.

The creation process is tricky to explain and I'd say is different for everyone.  For me, if I don't like it, I don't release it to the public because I create stuff I enjoy hearing and also creating.  I'm also not doing a music video every week like a mad man tongue so I can start again much easier.  I do enjoy the sculpting of an idea that you may not like though because sometimes one tiny change can make a huge difference and all of a sudden you really enjoy what you've created.  I think the creation process should be enjoyable where ever possible as it should be something you want to do.  smile

I like your bassline in here. the trompets are very nice and the guitars add a tasty surf sound. thanks for your sonic prayer.

I see this as a road movie soundtrack, a significant transition in life; the mental baggage from a recent past going towards an uncertain yet increasingly exciting future. Fantastic track!

Josh & I were saying that we could watch this video all day - like a "Driving with Frank" soundtrack by Orange Drink to treat stress and anxiety/relaxation channel.  We watched this while having morning coffee & it was such a lovely way to start the day.

The guitar & bass tone on this piece fills me with delight.  The drum mix sounds amazing & the brass is just so gorgeous and weaves in so well.  You make all these complicated pieces fit seamlessly in your composition & mix etc. -  it feels so fluid and effortless (though from what you said I know it is not)

Wishing you some rest & gentleness with yourself as you run the race & contend with the complications of finding your way in your artistic process.  Cheering you on too!  Go Drew!

The bass sounds fantastic on this and the horns are perfection.  I totally get where you're coming from on the holding back judgement thing.  I do often find that a lot of my own songs that I really like seem to flow forth easily and have a smooth creation process, whereas some of the ones I struggle with I tend to not care for the final product as much.  But I've also found that a little time and distance can make a difference as well and revisiting later can reveal that some tracks are better (or sometimes worse) than you thought.  Also the chef not enjoying everything they make is a good metaphor.  I often seem to find that my own personal favorite tracks are not the ones other people gravitate to, and it's sometimes surprising to see what other people latch onto or consider a highlight.  The good thing about participating in WB is it sort of forces you to see an idea to completion whether you like it or not, and if you don't like it that much, just churn it out and move on to the next one.

Nice brass! I like the sound of the bass too, but I would like the other instruments to be more audible in the mix cause they are also cool. Kind of a psychedelic track, I like it big_smile

Very nice track again.

Another interesting fact about our weekly tracks is that not necessarily the tracks that we like the most will resonate the most with other people... At least one or two of the tracks that I liked a lot had not much feedback, and not that positive, so you cannot know certainly before it is out there.

Keep it up!

what can i say that hasn't already been said. Really liked this take (amongst liking them all)

I especially like the take about how WB forces you to keep going, regardless of liking it or not. that's been my lesson this year so far (as a WB first timer).

so i guess i would add:
1) for me, it's all process. even a "final published track" is just another step on the process - one where whatever the current arrangement, mixing, and mastering that outputs a waveform is, then sits on a server for others to listen to, entereing their consciousness and influencing them in one way or another for their next track/vibe or just life-vibe to take with and continue the life-vibe/music on and on. we do get to package up a piece by cutting it, printing it, exporting it, naming it, adding ancillary art to it (be it video or imagery, or poetry), but that's all process to, and then this finished "thing" exists out in the world, but not apart from the world, if that makes sense.
2) along those lines, how cool is it that your reflections in the video as part of this piece, part of the vibe, have now caused all these various comments and other reflections on the creative process and helping each of us to learn something, or express something, to then influence each other's process or way of going about stuff. like...this creative thing: WB, videos, music, art led to an experience for people, that are now responding to the experience, and then creating more art, with that experience a part of their experience. lol ok i'm getting too abstract/meta perhaps, but i guess i'm trying to simply say, how cool is it what's created here; these comments are part of this piece (and a part of the WB experience overall).

We're our own passengers, just along for the ride with the vibes that are coming out of us and shared with each other.

rock on. (and thanks for being such a great member of the community)

Your words really resonated with me. I've often thought about the chef/food relationship, but I've never heard it put in a way that captures it quite so well. Enjoyed the tune, too. smile

Really enjoyed the music on this one, great tune to relax to or go for a leisurely drive, I do wish it was longer, wanted it to keep carrying on.  Now I’ve seen Wisconsin highway scenery, it pretty much looks exactly like Alberta, other then the signs being in MPH.

Love your intro. So so true! Yes, thank you. Great road tripping song and video. Love the slowed down video. Great song title, made me think ... This reminds me of my week last week, drove from Minneapolis to Madison, then Milwaukee ... so the whole state of WI. Flatter than the NW where I am, but lovely, and moist. My sinuses loved it. And I got cheese curds and a pickle in a rest area vending machine in Menominie which was awesome.
I like the trumpet in here.

Moving, changing, becoming
Thank you

The bassline is gewd but the brass is even bettAr imho. Oh wait I forgot that extra rotational guitar comes in too.  That line def has a repeatable listenin quality to it to just zone out with.  Yais I like.

Jammed this one on repeat today (missed it the week it was made), what a sweet sweet piece of music this. Video's kinda perfect in its simplicity for this tune. (What was the weather like when that was filmed? Did you secretly drop a mixtape / live bootlegs and that's why the weather's been in triple digits across most of the USA?)
