Tropical Punch

Wrote a little loop pedal jam, and then went back and added some percussion and DRUMS.  Really happy with it, despite not wanting to work on music and resenting the time crunch it created.  smile  That's WB for ya!

I'm really happy with that 3rd guitar line that has that triple note arpeggio thing.  That worked out exactly the way I wanted it too, but I had no idea if my fingers could find the notes.  Took a while of exploring the fret board.  My friend gave me a set of castanets last year, and I have yet to watch a video tutorial on how you're supposed to hold them and move them, but I just recorded three takes of the "click" and panned them L, C, R and it sounds so satisfying to my ears!

Ableton Drum Buss is amazing.  I recorded the drums with one microphone again (kevanatkins where u at?) and with the "transients" knob, you can basically adjust the ride cymbal volume after the fact.  Amazing.

I GET TO HAVE A FREE WEEKEND WOO HOO

Thanks to everyone for the kind words on the last week's "George" and the comments about my high school reunion.  I am late in corresponding because my mind is really frazzled.  Hopefully finishing on Friday night will allow me to have a restful weekend and I can get my head back on.

Instruments: Fender Jazzmaster, Holy Grail reverb pedal, Fender Sidekick 15 amp, Ludwig drumset w/Sabian cymbals, shaker, castanets.  Written on the EHX 22500 Looper pedal.

Exciting things I'm going to do on my weekend off:

- not leave the house and not run errands with a mask on
- watch fighting game tournament footage from 2019 (street fighter, super smash bros, tekken, soul calibur, mortal kombat)
- read
- not stay up late
- not eat junk food
- meditate
- go for a walk with Diez
- have a solo dance party in the basement
- play video games (street fighter, smash bros melee, metal gear survive, mario tennis, battle arena toshinden, shadow complex, splinter cell)
- continue to work on fixing up the basement (we had carpenter bees come into the basement!!!)
- watch The Secret World of Alex Mack and some other TV/Movies
- maybe play board games with Frank
- NOT STRESS OUT ABOUT WEEKLY BEATS

I like the clean guitar tones on this and the percussion is definitely sweet.  When the drums really kick in it super hits the spot.  Also dig that muffling effect that happens at the very end.

I like this it get's more exciting and enthusastic as time progresses

Hell yeah, this is a really cool loop where every new layer makes it more awesome. Also I love the dirty sound of those cymbals, I was trying to incorporate that kind of sound in my track this last week but I couldn't find a sample that sounded quite like that.

Awesome man, I like this a lot.  Must have been really fun to track.  I'm a big fan of the 2nd loop, but I'm really digging how all loops mesh together rhythmically.  Cool way to end it too.  Fade by high cut.

Fresh and fruity tune, pleasing to all the senses involved.

GRRREEEEAAAAATTTT!!!!!!!!! Lovely indierock.

Love when those drums come in, great guitar sound as well! Very nice smile

Such groovy loops, and what a great buildup between them! Solid drumming too. I think I've yet to hear you write something that isn't totally catchy.

This song makes me happy.

Heck yeah!

I love how you build the song progressively with all the different layers that complement the previous layers. Cool drum beat as well!

Awesome track!  All the guitar lines fit so nicely together.  But the build til we get to the drums even better..  Maybe it's the caffeine in ma cawfee but I initially got NIN-strumental vibes that meets MEATpuppets.  I should probably clean my ears out but yes.  Aww it ended.  Repeat!

Thank you!  I really love fade outs, and I'm really into finding different ways to do them.  My favorite is the Beatles Mixing Board fade out, where things would fade out unevenly.

After you mentioned Pinback the previous week, I went back and listened to them and I think that inspired me to do some guitar interplay, the way they always do.  So thanks for that!  I'll have to record some cymbal samples for you smile

Thank you very much - I dream to play this live with other humans one day.

I just listened to Nirvana unplugged a few days ago, which had the guest appearance by the Meat Puppets!  So it probably sank into my bones!  Drink more cawfee if it makes you enjoy Orange Drink that much more!!!!

Ogre: This song is like onions.
Donkey: It stinks and it makes you cry?
O: No, Layers! It has layers.
D: Cakes have layers. Everyone loves cake.
O: Songs are not like cake!

oooowwww i love the guitar melodies and guitar tone on this (thru the fender amp?). the whole thing builds up nicely and then WHAM DRUM CITY. drums sound great, too -- love the one mic sound.

also interesting how the castanets sorta sound like finger snaps. i like that.

Lovely happy goods here. +1 on Drum Buss. Magic. And I'll raise a glass to solo dance parties in the basement. Best therapy ever. Sound like a fun weekend planned, hope it was!!
