Sidewalk Surfers

By orangedrink on January 26, 2020 11:53 pm

RYAN WHERE ARE YOU

A little surf rock jam.  I prefer skateboarding to surfing so the title is an allusion to both.  I'm so exhausted with WB and this is only #4!  I'm trying to push myself to do learn new things each time, so we'll see what happens.  And I'm so far behind on responses and listening!  AHHHHH

Love you all

You nailed the tone you were going for.  This captures the surfer vibe pretty perfectly!

Awesome title, awesome track. Totally tubular. My big brother surfs daily, I'm sending this to him right now. It's funny, my Week 4 came from a similar place, but is 90s punk rock fueled and has nowhere near the creative structure as this tongue

Groovy baby! Definitely time to hit the waves B)

Tubular!

Holy shit!  Sounds like it was recorded in the 60s! Great tone in the guitars.  Real hand claps nailed it.  I'm picturing a lime green plastic board with oversize red road runner wheels and a barefoot kid hanging 10 with back wheels in the air!

Seeing Ryan didn't fucking do one!  tongue

Definitely nailing some of those sweet surf guitar tones.  Nice work!

Big vintage DogTown sound

The vibe here is perfect, really nice work!

You've definitely nailed the surf vibe.  And majorly laid down the gauntlet to Ryan.  smile

Great track! Loving it. It sounds super good, love the guitars/drums. Keep it up, I want more.

Niiiiiiiiiiice...... Totally nailed it Orangedrink and I'm one step closer to my dream of a Surf Rock compilation composed entirely by Weekly Beats participants (i'm looking at you everybody else).

I know I let the team down this week.... It wont happen again.

Oh and killer guitar tone too, cowabunga

Lovely! Dim the lights and chill the ham!

yeah nice!

this is really cool (and another style i haven't heard from ya)
the whammy bar swings are clutch, and as others mentioned u nailed the 60s surfer vibe

Thanks for all the wonderful comments everyone!  I attribute the success to: My Fender Jazzmaster, Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail pedal, and my Fender drum kit from 1967-ish!  My surf rock trinity!

Thanks so much!  My first venture (pun intended on The Ventures) into surf as I have been a big fan for a long time.

Thanks for the encouragement - I felt like this was a good first effort, but I feel like I have a lot more to learn to do what I aspire to in the world of Surf Rock

thank you!  always trying to surprise you (and myself) - I'm kind of laughing at myself as I was a staunch whammy bar hater back in the day now I NEED IT

Yes. Just yes. Ryan has laid me a surf challenge, but mine might end up.........different. This is just too legit to quit.

Yes it has been! Just hanging out with this cute boi!

When are you coming over for pizza?

Woah. Solid jam. So pitted!

nice guitar!
I want to match this song with old video!

Gnarly, but what if you added some skate music to it as well?

Wow nice vibes! Love the guitar lines and these chords!!!

You've got me thinking.  What is skate music per se?  I'm thinking 80s punk rock in the USA is "skate music"

Okay we gotta start a WB Surf Crew.  You, me, Ryan, who else is in?

Depends on who you ask. Punk is definitely one of them, but also hip-hop and metal. There're even some who might include ska.

In terms of hiphop skate music: Kick, Push is a great track.

omg, Ska... that's something I can tackle now I'm doing vocals and bass + the 90s drums plugin

This is an excellent example of surf rock, you nailed it. Awesome!

Mondays usually work for me!

I love how every time you come up with new stuff. I cannot be completely sure, but I cannot remember hearing a surf track of you ...
Sounds amazing though. As a song, but also production wise this is topnotch. The instruments sit very well together.
Somehow I was picturing a female voice shouting random stuff over it and that sounding great. But it might also be my mind indoctrinated by Pulp Fiction stuff or sonething ...
Anyways ... great stuff

Holy shit this sounds incredible! Great job, mate. Don't even know what else to say, sounds incredible accurate to me!

Excellent surf jam!  Gotta love those whammys!  Had me clapping along tongue

sooo goood!

the surfer feeling comes across very well.
Great 60's vibe

Good call!  Ska is definitely skateboard energy

Thank you thank you!  Yes, the Pulp Fiction vibe is a good one - Dick Dale "Misirlou"
