Sequencer Cassette Tape I

By orangedrink on June 20, 2020 10:19 pm

Learning how to sequence the Juno JU-06A by plugging it into the Digitakt.  Still very confused, but made this little ditty during my experiments.  I'm still really struggling with the Arturia Keystep, mainly because the Juno has an internal sequencer, as does the Arturia, and there is this thing where the Arturia activates the Juno's sequence, rather than the sequence you just played on the keyboard.  This is a known issue and there is a workaround about making an empty sequence 1 step long BUT I have no idea how to make that happen.  Things I need to learn:

- Digitakt - how to load up/save drum kits, how to enter a chromatic keyboard played note to an empty step (not played live and dialed in on the note value), how to quickly import audio and alter the sound with FX

- mGB - how to do more than just default sounds, how to dial in stuff on the Digitakt

- LSDJ - how to do more than just default sounds, how to do wav channel kick drums

- Nanoloop - how to do anything smile

- Keystep - how to fix the Juno sequencer issue and how to use the full sequencer/arpeggio live editing/recording features

Happy Father's Day to all you crazy people that try to balance music and family, that is insane and I could never do it.  Much respect.  I made this picture of Derek Jacobi and I'm actually really excited about it.

I really like that second chord tone in the progression. Aesthetically, I like the warbly timbre you created. Good luck on your scholarly quest! Getting started on learning new things always sucks until you find the breadcrumb trail. Unfortunately I don't know any of that stuff or I'd try to help.

My horse in RDR2 is named Juno.

Good luck with your new challenges.I am shure you will find it out.
This track sounds a bit chaotic but that is how experimaental tracks have to be. It sounds so nice and analog like the electronic music in the beginning of the 90ies. I used to love this music and still do.

One of the best ways to grow and improve is to push yourself into uncomfortable territory, which you seem to do decently often and usually emerge with good results.  This was short and sweet, but it sounded cool.

As long as you're having fun on the way.

Nice groove, too.

Far out and groovy man!  That spacey arp sounds great.

great chord progression! i like the bossa-nova style beat too, the combo is giving me a bit of a john brion / stereolab vibe. are all of the "cassette tape" tracks actually bounced to cassette? either way it sounds great

I love Arturia stuff so much -- by the sound of this, I think you're getting it just fine smile
