Murder Mystery

By orangedrink on October 21, 2018 11:12 pm

Just trying to do something that doesn't sound like Orange Drink, which is a total Orange Drink move.  Maybe too much bass, not loud enough vocals on the chorus?  I am really running short on time, so WHATEVS.  Please let me know what you think.  Any adjustments?  Maybe the vocal performance needs a tune up?

Lyrics:

the dutchess and the duke
looking smart, descend the staircase
everyone applauds and
everyone looks in awe
…except one

and suddenly a start
all in shock heard an explosion
fearing it’s close
they turn around and run
…except one

the duke, while fighting pain
scans the crowd for the offender
upon inspection
this is not my blood

the dutchess feigning pain
rises up and gives the signal
the duke cries out but
it’s already done

run away
run away
i’m certain
we’ll all be blamed
they’re out again
it’s all in vain
we’ve all been framed

hide the locket well inside the frame

Awesome structure! Cool vocals tbh, love the story telling aspect.

And yeah, chorus reminds me so much of Red Hot Chili Peppers in a very good way.

It's a different genre to be sure, but that voice is undeniably yours.

Thanks so much, I was pretty nervous/unsure about this but the Tweaklab seal of approval has me relieved!

I made a meme for you, Devieus wink

It's your voice, man, it's just made for Grunge.

I love the style... really nailed it. A+ composition, vocals, and meme-making!

Not a bad thing!  I definitely grew up with Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, and Stone Temple Pilots, particularly in some of the formative years of Orange Drink.  Hey, off hand do you know of any current, new bands that are doing their take on grunge?

This comment means a lot to me coming from you, because I know you know the deal on this post-rock whatever style!  Thanks man!  (ok, ok, ok, it's grunge smile )

The Blood Brothers meets Hot Hot Heat? love your super unique sound you always dish out. never the same thing twice!

This is way rawer than I expected. I love it.

Don’t know how you do it all in one week, great drums, great vocals and original lyrics.

Listening a second time, those drums are killer!

Oh man. I had this thought earlier in the year, not sure I commented it but I would love to col\lab with you on a weeklybeat before the year is out. Seeing Andrew Huang and Rob Scallon's video where they make an album in a day during a 10 hour studio session just fuelled that fire even more... if you're interested big_smile

Definitely some punk rock/grunge on there too. Reminded me heaps of weeklybeats and a bunch of your tracks!

Not really, I'm not big into the scene.

funky as fuck, man!
it has some early Blur-references to my ear.
Which is quite good, cause I've always admired Damon Albarn's versatility.
So I guess you're Weekly Beats' Damon Albarn to me smile

This is a photograph of me fainting at the possibility of being compared to Damon Albarn

hahahahahaha!!! smile))

Whoa, great raw sound and real nice bass and guitar groove. Great vocals!! Sounds really good when your pushing your voice harder. Reminds me of the band Hard FI a bit.

Has a nice raw "in the room" sort of feel.  It sounds like a full band rocking out.  I dig it.

bass is awesome as usual. love the groove

love the grunge funk!  really nice track!

Awesome job on recording the drums.  The opening beat reminded slightly of a beastie boys track but then the bass hook took it in a different direction.  Love those bass/drum fills too.  Ba-da-boom Ba-da-biiiiing!  The transition from chorus back into verse is so tight too.  Well done!

Big one! enjoyed it. Love the groovey groove on verses and that big chorus. Just call it rock n roll? And way to do it all, one man band! Happy anniversary, good to see Jacobi back this week though, lol. cheers!
