The track title is a reference to the 1995 Nickelodeon TV show "The Secret World Of Alex Mack" - that I recently became re-obsessed with.

I did this as a live, one-take, solo Digitakt performance.  Sorry it's so long???  I tried to take some of the feedback from last week's track:  I did some subtle panning of the drum kit, and I adjusted the filtering and sample length of some of the melodic elements.  I tried to bring some variety with EQ as well.  I used a bunch of sweet TR-909 samples that I got here. It would be great to have a B and C section, but I was rushed for time and did this in about 2 hours, so only had these 8 tracks on the Digitakt.  The only alternate section was changing the kick drum from upbeat to four on the floor, like I did last week.  The hi-hat and kick drum (in the first section) have the "probability" around 87% - so this has a lot more built-in variety than last week's composition.

How did I do on my goals?

1) tidy studio - NOPE (but I it has been a great challenge to just make tracks on the Digitakt alone)

2) listen to all the week 28 tracks on my followed artists list - I think I did about 1/2 of them

3) come up with a list of goals per instrument - NOPE

4) send something to Lynden - NOPE SORRY LYNDEN

5) work on the new website  - NOPE

BUT, in my defense, I actually came up with a bunch of other goals, and those overtook the old ones.  I came up with the idea to create a fine art and film version of WeeklyBeats (kinda).  I have two film friends and two fine art friends, and they gave me some homework assignments and deadlines.  I watched a film for homework, and then created 5 different art pieces.  So I got a lot of work done, and I'm proud of that, but just nothing on the old list.  Will try to do the old list for next week!  heart

I'm in a really bad mood and I didn't want to do this, but while I was working on it, time totally stopped and I had a ton of fun.  Music takes me to another place.  Sometimes I don't want to go, but I'm always glad I did.  I have to figure out a new plan for getting on a sleeping and eating schedule, because I think it's really affecting my mood.  I also really want to get a standing desk because I spent too much time sitting.

Video games I've been playing: Street Fighter V, Mortal Kombat 11, Baba Is You, Fortnite, The Witness (replay)

Games I want to get back into Subnautica, Metal Gear Survive, Let It Die

Games I might want to buy: Tekken 7 - thinking about maybe getting No Man's Sky??  also would like to get Samurai Shodown.  CAN'T WAIT FOR TONY HAWK.

Have been rewatching the Koyaanisqatsi trilogy with my husband and that reminds me why I love art.

Love you all...I'm available for any feedback, advice, rambles, etc. talk all you want, I'm listening.  I've been coloring all these recent Derek Jacobi pictures and it's been a nice distraction.

This is pretty nice to just zone out to.  It has a trance inducing quality and sometimes it's nice to get in the trance-state for a bit of time.  Speaking of which, I know what you mean about losing track of time when making music.  A lot of time when I'm in the creative flow I'll suddenly realize hours have passed and it seems like no time at all.  I like getting to that place although sometimes I don't like the part where my whole day just vanished in the blink of an eye.  But I pretty much always feel good after creating music, even when I wasn't in the mood to do it beforehand.

Thanks for listening!  Yeah, the track almost mirrors the topic of losing time.  Making art is like exercise for the spirit!  So I guess I have that same love/hate relationship with the gym aka my studio, like a lot of people do smile

The percussion is tight. I would not mind velocity variations in the hihat. I love the smooth bass line starting at 0:50. Very subtle bass layers, this is cool. I like how the track morphs and evolves!

Tony hawk - on the one hand i am so excited about this, on the other hand i want to never buy it so that i can have time to do other stuff that matters like getting some sleep, working, etc.

this track has a phenomenal speed. I love how you hold the control over all elements. This was a very cool one-take live performance.

Loving these digitakt driven tracks.  Your percussion is always super tight and a head nodder.  Man do I miss playing video games!  I haven't been active since my xbox360 got the red ring o death like 8 years ago.  XboxOne or PS4 recommended?  I might splurge if they come down over the holiday.  Also I've never seen the Koyaanisqatsi trilogy but love the score by Glass.  I need to check that out at some point.

super fun!  the colorized DJ is beauteous!

Banging! Really, its making my head bang a little smile It pulled me in and I did trance out a bit, I like that  arp synth. You're getting good stuff out the digi, very cool that it was one take live. Being able to perform live and control the gear is a great skill.
I love what you said here "time totally stopped and I had a ton of fun.  Music takes me to another place.  Sometimes I don't want to go, but I'm always glad I did" totally agree! Yeah Koyaanisqatsi is so good, always makes me wanna create.

Smooth. and I like that I've been mentioned in a few of your beats.

super cool that this is one live take. i don't totally understand how you are doing all this live, but it def adds an organic/spontaneous vibe!
