My speakers F R E A K E D out on me, loud buzzing, explosive crackles, the whole submarine sandwich, so I had to do this on 1/2 a working setup and headphones that also were cutting out???  I had a bad week last week, and I think the evil Halloween mojo followed me into the studio.  I will have to remix this in the future.  I think I could have tightened up the arrangement.  Might be cool to hook up the Kaoss pad and throw in some insanity.  This was kind of stylistic throwback to my previous electronic dance work on Minotaur - house/dance with breakbeats & bell motifs.  The main piano riff was played by me on the OP-1, most of the rest are samples, and 808s via Ableton.

Nervous about the upcoming US election, let the anxiety begin! *confetti*

Dig the Minotaur throwback! this sounds huge and the mix is extra crispy in a good way to me. sorry that your speakers are on the fritz but to me it seems your ears are more than capable of adapting and delivering a solid mix regardless

I ask myself, how you did the syncronisation of the OP1 with your equipment. I wish I could utilise the OP1 with my gear without the use of my computer. I know there is a midi to usb adapter, but it will change the playback pitch, when the OP1 is slave. My EHX4500 could be the slave too, but would change its playback pitch as well. I thought I will have to readjust everything in ableton, when I have syncronized the OP1 via ableton, what I already did successfully.
Btw, nice dance track you made this week. Hope you get your speakerproblem in order soon.

You had me with the title really, but this is super fun time! I get down. That cowbell, go go bell ... that also gets me. Not your usual style I'd say, and  that's OK. Ah I read now you were doing some of this in a past project? Nice, cheers to throw back.

Lol, "The whole submarine sandwich" Sounds like a new yorker mobster kinda saying. I like.

Sounds crazy good.  A bangin dance blow out!  The percussion is off the hook fun.  Don't worry, good times just around the corner.  Got to get those new monitors!

I love my krks!
But they are long in the nose... i think i have to replace the capacitors soon, and one has intermittent buzzing on low frequencies (it's the one a thief dropped down a flight of stairs about 15 years ago, so it's impressive it's still doing relatively ok!).

Groovy beats but when that bassline kicks in.... oooooh yais i like!   Especially enjoyed the lil change up around the 3min mark.  I hope your speaker sitch gets sorted out soon.  That sounds frustrating af.  Oh no is the Predator hunting Derek Jacobi!? tongue

That is a crazy story about the theft!  Looks my old speakers are 100% dead.  Which KRKs do you recommend?  Which do you have?  I'm going to get the 10S subwoofer, but not sure which speakers to pair it with.

I have the KRK V8 Series 2. I've always loved them. I originally was going to get another pair, I forgot which, but I went to a Guitar Center and listened to a few, and knew instantly the KRKs were for me. From the ones I listened to, it had the flattest freq response and didn't color the sound, and the bass sounded clean and crisp. My friend had one of the 12" subwoofers and it kicked! I definitely haven't lived in an apartment where I could use subs though. The KRK V8s are plenty loud for small apartments with neighbors. They have limiters built-in, but I'd recommend running your signal through a mixer instead of directly from devices since they are loud. I can't speak for the other models, but I really like my V8s and would easily buy them again, although I like the looks of the older model much more than the current Series 4. The best way to buy monitors is to listen to them first, but without that option now, I guess buy them from a place with a good return policy! My monitors are 15 years old, so I'm not that familiar with the monitor market now, but I think KRK monitors still have a good reputation for their sound. If you are already getting subs, you could probably go with smaller monitors, but you know I like my stereo bass!
