Year of Confusion

By onezero on July 8, 2022 10:37 pm

This has been a busier week than recent busy weeks, including travel to an event that's now in-person again after a two-year pandemic interruption. To fit something in to this week, I improvised several little guitar phrases against each other in two tracks, adding a few longer lines as well.  It's all PureSalem Mendiola straight to the converter, with one exception: the faded-in parts are with Moyo volume pedal.

Sometimes when I work like this, the chord changes and longer phrases flow quite well (like last week), though that wasn't the case with this one. This one required a number of edits around transitions and an extra track interleaving some clips (some backwards) to make it feel less jarring. There are still some surprising (possibly confusing) transitions, though.

Sends: Valhalla Supermassive and one convolution reverb. There's also inline compression/eq (Wide & Warm preset) on the stereo bus.

The title (which is kind of appropriate) comes from the calendar reset year of 46 BCE ending up with 445 days.

the guitars sound nice. well done.

not confusing it was a neat effect - this is beautiful - miss you all heart

everything sounded so full-bodied. very chill and lovely send choices for the richness across the spectrum

i am also glad to have learned of the "year of confusion" - thank you for sharing! and i'm glad wikipedians are pointing out this key piece that

The actual planetary orbit-year remained the same.

glad things didn't take longer that one time

Thank you! Yeah, it's a relief that it was just calendar confusion...

I really like this progression
