Sweet

I didn't think of anything for this week until Friday evening, when I had a half of an idea for a guitar line (PureSalem Mendiola, neck pickup), so I put up a fairly simple beat (TR-606, after trying a few other drum machine samples) and tracked a few things to it.  Then I responded with another channel of guitar (same guitar, bridge pickup), both through the EHX LPB2ube.  I'd been thinking that I was relying a bit too much on the wah lately, so I opted not to tone-shape with it this time.  Saturday evening, I added a bit more guitar and some Puremagnetik grand piano, with both high-pass and low-pass filtering for a more narrow range.   To fill in some space, I used a Puremagnetik tine-based piano sample, and a backwards grand instrument.  Finally, I tracked the usual Epi P-J bass Sunday, playing a bit less funky and more melodic than I have lately.   And here we are.

The PureSalem neck pickup (left channel) got some Auto-Filter with drive, while the bridge pickup didn't need any additional shaping.  Drum machine got some Drum Buss, and the bass got some roll-off with EQ-8.  Sends: one Echo, and two convolution reverbs (one large space, one small), both with high-pass Auto-Filter in front.

Title from the sweet-sixteen idea in US culture, but also because this piece has a kind of sweetness to it.

Great delay effects on the 606, really brings it to life. Enjoying the laid back mellow vibe. As usual, bass saves the day!

Nice piece. Builds nicely.

Love this track, love the bass tone in particular, so fat. Very sweet track indeed.

I like the drum beat and the way the piano and guitars work together.

sweet song!
