An intuitive bricolage kind of piece. I wasn't sure quite what I wanted to do, but threw together a couple beat patterns in Live that emphasized off-beats, and kept responding to it with different instruments. I went through a few different Drum Rack sample sets before settling on the 32 Pad Kit of Jazz drums, followed by Percussion Core and a kit of dry funk drums. Next up were some little chordal lines with the Electric MkI2 Crunchy Piano and a spacier Operator Basic Organ line through the M4L Filter Taps plugin. I next tracked different guitar parts with my home-built Res-O-Glas, doing one channel with neck pickup and one Auto-Filter overdrive profile, and another with bridge pickup and a slightly different overdrive profile. (They're panned left and right.) Finally, I added Epi P-J bass through EQ-8 to roll off lows.
Sends: two convolution reverbs (large space and smaller space with auto-filter bass rolloff) and two Echo (TwoAnalogue and Tape Reverb presets). Everything also got full-chain master, and the keyboard lines and extra drum lines got auto-pan.
Title from the use of molybdenum in stainless steel alloys.
