Snow Factory

By onezero on February 16, 2014 11:08 pm

Bunch of work stuff going on this week, but I found time here and there to assemble some chill-out rhythms with several different single-hit samples (five separate parts).  It didn't really coalesce, until I added two different reverb depths (office and factory) and add reverse-gate to a lot of the drum machine lines, to keep it from being "here's a bunch of drum machines" and have it more like less-identifiable machine chattering, with some different auto-pans to make it interesting.

I recorded several Moog Guitar lines I didn't use--they just didn't fit correctly, and the lines and pads I came up with in Live's Electric, Operator, and Analog instruments were more wistful, so I went with the all-in-the-box approach, tweaking a few lines and declaring it done with less than an hour to go.

Enjoy, and think of snow blowing over the hills.

I really like the feel of this. Niice

very nice

lovely! so relaxing...

really mellow feel to this and i like the clicky drum sounds that create the beat (sorry for the lack of a better description).  but i kept picturing the lil robot thingy from the movie, batteries not included waddling around to this smile

I really enjoyed the setting one this one. Makes me want to wait for the last train going home. Some things that caught me was the pads was too loud and drowned out everything else. And the drums need a tad more umph! Thank you for the feelings.

Thanks, everyone!  Glad you liked it!  It came together pretty late.

Yeah, there's some mix-tweaking that can take place, like one of the keyboard/organ voices being undermined.  I'll have to revisit those pads.  The drums, I actually made an effort to take oomph out, to have the drums more light and clicky with the reverse gate, but that could stand an edit.

Thanks for the comments!

This was a good tune to start the day off smile
