Another complex week and weekend, but here's a track. I had a little rhythm in my mind, and it turned out to be the weird 6/4 thing that starts the piece.   Drums/percussion: a drum rack of acoustic trap kit single-hits, Ableton's Clint West Kit, Ableton's Borja Kit, all with Drum Buss, and an Impulse instrument of handclaps, which got Redux to 4-bit and gate to reduce decay noise. There are two sparse tracks of Analog (filtered sawtooths), a track of Epi P-J bass (EQ8 to roll off lows, then split with Audio Effect Rack with 171Hz-1KHz getting a little distortion, then both channels going through Cabinet), and a track of Res-O-Glas guitar through Reuss RF-01 and Vox Wah).  Everything but the acoustic kit and bass got auto-pan.

Sends: High-pass Auto-Filter into convolution reverb (set to a tracking room), Simple Delay, and High-pass Auto-Filter into Echo on Flutter preset.

Title from a kind of battery with vanadium (element 23) chemistry.

Thanks for the info on the sends!  I never really knew how to use sends but just recently upgraded to Ableton 10 from 8!  I really like the auto pan.  Not too harsh, but keeps things lively and fresh.  Going to have to try that.  Really excited about the new reverb options in 10 (and the Glue Compressor)

You're welcome!  Echo is great.  I haven't gotten into the new reverb yet (I like the M4L convolutions), but...the revelation is Drum Buss. It's so much easier than all the fiddling I used to do with Auto-Filter!

Funky tunes. The panning really makes it right for the bass.

So next week could be futuristic, because everything is chrome in the future.

Great guitar sound. Like it's talking. I am always envious of your bass and drum sounds. This week, now the guitar is on the list. Cool panning effects. Cool jam!

Thank you!  Week 24...I went with a tribute to the band Chrome--not a cover, but something in the style of the classic late-70s work. (I also had a chance to see Helios Creed with a revived version of Chrome a few weeks ago.  Apparently they're now on hiatus.)

Thank you!  Drum sounds definitely improved with Drum Buss in Live 10, and I've been getting a lot out of a -9dB rolloff of the bass below 100Hz with EQ-8.  (I wouldn't do that with every bass, but my own with EMG P pickups and older flat wounds...it works well.)

The big thing with this week's guitar was that I was doing a lot of string bending while manipulating the Bigsby, so it's like two different kinds of simultaneous vibrato, one slow (the string bend) and one fast (the Bigsby).  It's a fun effect!

6/4 time signature is cool!
