Orb Weaver

By onezero on February 23, 2020 10:46 pm

This was a week full of travel, getting back to work, and also dealing with a still-lingering cold...so attention was weird. This is an edit-heavy piece--while I didn't track a lot of bass or guitar, what's here has a lot of dropped repetitions to build some tension.  I went with a 909 kit and handclaps, having recently listened to some interviews with Detroit House folks talking about how important the 909 was to early house, and some house influence creeps in...but then bass and guitar (PureSalem Mendiola, with Vox Wah and some with Reuss RF-01) made it a bit more rock-like. For variation, there's also some backwards guitar.

Sends: Echo, convolution reverb. Some auto-pan, and full-chain master on the out.

Title from everyone's favorite arachnid.

everyone got a cold!  that time of year.

great echo/reverb on this!

Ahh the bass I crave! Love all the different guitars. Especially that buzzsaw guitar back in the mix. Lots of space in the mix lets the bass be extra punchy.  Could listen to this all day!

oh no did you get "thunderflu?"  too many sweaty hugs

i need to play this tune for the orb weavers in my garden

The clarity of the bass is great. The sounds are reminiscent of those old time cop drama shows.

I like the 909 here, but wouldn't the 808 be appropriate?

Ha, listening to this one again and just had to say, DAMN! Sent it to a friend.
