Microbes

By onezero on July 27, 2014 5:26 pm

This one grew organically from some beat patterns which ended up not making it in--one of my beat variations took it over, and the original sounded weak in comparison.  Typical-for-me 606 and K3M, with a couple different Beat Repeat return channels, including the occasional simulated robot vocal. A couple channels of Operator (bass and the high-resonance pad), and a bunch of little snippets of Bleep Labs Nebulophone for noise and texture.  Originally the Nebulophone track was a bursts-of-noise thing, but a couple tremolo/modulated bits seemed to lend more of a hook, so I brought in more of those.  I also tracked two interacting bass guitar parts I ended up scratching; they just didn't fit, but might reappear in something else.

Name suggested by one of my kids--both of 'em kept bobbing their heads while I was working on this, which was a good sign.

Lot of tension for such a quiet track. I like it!

Nice and rich. Check out the video of "we have invisible friends" by Eskmo in case you haven't seen it... lots of microbes!

Really enjoyed this! I'll be waiting for those bass guitar parts in later tracks wink

Nice dynamic sounds! altho I like the weird sounds and pannings also:)

Thanks!  It seemed to want that tension, so I went with that.

Thanks!  I totally don't know that one, so I'll have to check it out.

Thanks for reminding me! Totally forgot about those this week, though once again I played real bass.  I'll have to revisit them.
