This week I'd thought I'd do something with two basses interacting.  I started with the FM drum rack set I've been using, doing several lines in 4/4, used Drum Buss, and added some M4L Humanizer.

For voice differentiation in the bass, I used my first-ever electric guitar, a Teisco tulip bass, and put down several loops (right channel).  One of them was syncopated in a kind of interesting way, and I realized later that it was in 11/8.  Appropriate, but it made the rest of the piece a kind of jigsaw puzzle.  Second bass (left channel) is the usual Epiphone P-J. Both got some EQ-8 to roll off lows.

Guitar is the PureSalem Mendiola, which I tracked with Balls Effects KWB, Vox Wah, and Moyo volume pedal, then just was and volume, and also straight into the A/D. Real melodic lines didn't occur to me until later, so I added yet another track to fill in, and did a lot of editing on the other snippets.

Sends: lots of Ableton Echo, plus a convolution reverb. Full-Chain Master on everything.

Title is the Basque word for eleven, but also means infinite.

This is a beautiful track title, and I like the dual meanings.

When you say full-chain master, what are you referring to?  Compression?

I can hear some of the reverb on the clicks rise and duck, that's pretty cool.

Nice piece - spacious and pretty, love the pulsing syncopated rhythms

Thank you!  Full-Chain Master is an Audio Effect Rack preset for Ableton Live and Suite--if you dig into Audio Effects > Audio Effect Rack > Mixing & Mastering, you'll see it as one of the many mastering/mix-tweaking presets. There's some compression and parametric EQ, but it's mostly neutral and subtle. (Sometimes I'll EQ it flat.)

I'm glad to hear you thought of it as spacious--it's tricky to get space with two constant bass lines!

Nice mysterious ambiance.

turn those basses up to 11!!!!!!!!!!!!  smile
