Late in the week I played around a bit with some drum patterns, thinking I'd do an entirely-in-the-box thing.  I ended up settling on the Ableton Get Fresh kit (hard to mix; not sure if it has any impact anymore) and a kit of 909 samples.  Fairly early on, I thought it'd be better if I had most of them at double tempo, so there's a jungle thing going on, and some of the drum lines and bass lines play with the fast-against-slow aspect.  Bass is one of the Analog bass presets (Bass Floor). I threw in a track of handclaps, a keyboard line I took out, and a Collision part for Large Glass Bowls.  At the end, I put in some Res-O-Glas parts, cutting most of them, but leaving a few phrases, forward and reverse.  Sends: two Echo channels (Dub Syndicate with LFO band-pass Auto-Filter in front of it and Shimmer) and one convolution reverb.

This is excellent, I love the contrast of the melody line which is quite laid back and dreamy against the frentic percussion. Also the trimming down of the percussion to give the perception of it being at half speed then picking it up with more hits. Very cool

What Rob Roy said, exponentially. smile

The bass and drum groove is really hard hitting and really dominate. The switching to double time and beyond are great. I like how there is a lot of space to hear the delay and and filtering effects unfold. Such a good jam, I have to save and fav!

drum beats are so fun! guitar is so sweet - the minimal use is used to great effect! keeps that beat flowing

oh my word i just read the lyrics to "welcome to the jumgle" - so much regret - it was always a sort of mumble song to me - ew it's so gross unlike this song which is beautiful....

Great track!  I like the skippy bass rhythm.
