First Warm Breeze

By onezero on March 23, 2014 7:31 pm

Given the weather we're having, this is more wishful thinking than autobiographical. But after a revision or two, a more ambiguous track turned major, so I went with it.  Ableton Live with Electric and Operator instruments, three drum machine tracks (808, K3M, and various percussion), and my trusty Kalamazoo KG-2 into Live (amp simulator on the Clean setting with a touch of compression and gain).  The Kalamazoo is ready for the weather to change, too--the G string is bottoming out on the frets, so it's ready for a truss rod tweak.

Great groove on this, super-summery. Like the noise creeping through the gate on the guitar too...

Cool track. I can feel that breeze, alright.

I like the atmosphere, but maby try out using a tight indy style drum kit instead of house drum machines would complement the style more, maby.

This is great. I expected it to go in a minimal tech direction with the intro but then the guitar comes in and picks it up and runs in a new direction. I actually love the contrast and complement of the styles, also even with the 808 you've not gone heavy with the kick. It's like a happy Joy Division. It does beg for a vocal I that would really cap it off.

Thanks!  Yeah, the noise I just kind of left in.  Single-coils; it's inevitable, though I can reduce it if I turn the right way.  I might be tempted to re-track; there's a little tempo-dragging on one glissando that's bugging me now.

Thanks!  Pretty much only in the song, though--it's still snowing here.

Thanks!  After the deadline I could hear a complementary descending guitar figure and a chordal part, which I'd like to get in there.  Nice that you picked up on the Joy Division--when I was playing it, I was thinking New Order (or the NO-influence on Bottomless Pit).  I'm not hearing a space for my voice, but I could easily hear a female singer over it.

wow,... somebody is ready for summer! nice one good subtle stereo fx on the percs ... cool track :-) ...smile errupting on my face!

Kind of remembers me the happy days of The Cure. Yeah, put some Robert Smith on it. yikes
