City

Another came-together-at-the-last-minute piece. For this one, I'd had a couple rhythms in mind, and got them down in Ableton. Saturday night I tracked guitar, and that Csus/Dsus fingerpicking thing came up immediately. After that, though, ideas kind of stalled from there. I played some chordal stuff against it, and some other fingerpicking decoration lines...but wasn't sure how it'd all work.

Sunday I tracked bass and quickly had four keeper bass parts; the rest was collaging it together.

Drums: Ableton 64 Pad Kit Jazz with Max Humanizer

Guitar: home-built Res-O-Glas with Alumitones and varitone switch. Also with new strings.

Bass: 80s Epiphone P/J with EQ-8 low-end rolloff.

Sends: two convolution reverbs and two Echo plugins

Wide&Warm effect rack preset on the stereo mix.

It seems lately that I've been doing years that map to the number of the weekly track. This is week 426, and there's not a lot special about that number, but Augustine published City of God in 426 CE, so I'll go with that.

This is a vibe. City is a good name for it, feels like a lazy Sunday in a more relaxed part of town...

there is a relaxing and activating side in this track. Love this duality.

So smooth
