This one was all vibe--I had no idea what I'd do until late in the week, and even then it changed a few times.  I had a rhythm using a drum rack of Colombian percussion, and put a bunch of 909 patterns against it.  I added modulated piano, and then...took it back out.  Friday I recorded a lot of Fahey-tuned (B F# B F# B D) Univox hollow-body fingerpicking, way more than I could use, and then Saturday tracked some Epi P-J bass against it.  The 909 started sounding wrong, so I replaced that with a drum rack of single-hit jazz-style trap samples, and then added a swirly Operator pad (June O preset). I cut down the guitar lines significantly, using little snippets of the longer improvisations.

Sends: Convolution reverb with Auto-Filter in front to roll off bass, Echo on the Tweezy Tape preset, and M4L Warpoon.   All percussion got M4L Humanizer and automated sends.  Bass got EQ-8 to roll off lows, and guitar got Auto-Filter high-pass with drive to give it some flavor.

Title from the use of palladium in catalytic converters--apparently its primary use.

All that work culminating in an excellent result. Nice job!

End result is delightful and flows great! a nice track to sit back and relax, gazing in the distance smile

You should put a harmonica in instead of a piano.

Thank you!  That's a great image!  I was definitely getting a hot-summer-afternoon vibe from it, which is currently wishful thinking.

It's certainly easier to find a place for a harmonica!  I'll have to give that a try...or maybe melodica for that Augustus Pablo vibe.

Love the guitars on this especially.  You did nail the hot summer afternoon vibe indeed

I can help you with that melodica section if you want.
