Hard beat, interesting workflow. I keep checking your stuff looking for inspiration
Sounds cool... what you using for drum rhythms on this and what kind of tape deck? You got me curious.
NWSPR: It's just cheap GE handheld tape recorder that I found at a thrift store. It's cool because it's old and has a built-in mic and speaker (and the tone wobbles if you shake it). I recorded a little casio song with the mic and ended up just sampling a few pieces of it. The drums are from my sampler (from the 606. I forget what the clap is from), but some of the casio beat ended up in there as well. I didn't have time to expand it more, and ended up tossing some melodies and a bassline out.
Cool... listening through a second time. I really like it. Will download. I was playing around this week with an old reel to reel from the late 60s that I found. It had a reel of Italian speech of some sort. I was slowing the pitch and it actually started billowing smoke and caught on fire. I was pretty psyched up until that moment.
sweet vibe. a much more rough sound than your other stuff, it creates a cool texture
really nice tone.
Is there much difference in sound from this recorder than the recorder you were using at the beginning of the year?
DrumurBoy: Yeah actually. This one picks up low frequencies so much better. You can't really tell with this track since it was recording the built-in Casio speaker (zero low end), but my track from two weeks ago used the same recorder. It also lacks the very aggressive compressor/limiter that my microcassette recorder has.
