PANDORA'S VOX

By oceans universum amazonas on January 29, 2012 9:54 pm

This week we watched the BBC documentary series "All watched over by Machines of Loving Grace" by one of our heroes - the filmmaker Adam Curtis.

If you haven't seen it do.

It features sections of an essay/open letter called "Pandora's Vox: on community in cyberspace" from 1994 by an inspiring poet and an early feminist cyberspace activist named Carmen Hermosillo aka "humdog". We have reworked parts of her statement for our piece this week. RIP Carmen - we hope you don't mind.

Carmen's comments are rather fitting, we thought, in a week when discussions about popularity and commenting (or not) on the creative work of others have dominated the discussion boards.

Peace out.
