That Good Ol' Death 'N Roll

By Nyarlos on August 7, 2022 10:57 pm

Some mid paced, blast less Death and Roll, definitely a 90's phenomenon, basically regular death metal, but with more hard rock drums and they seemed to love the 'war drum' tom pattern intro's.

Had a lot of success with my Peavey 6505 this week, sometimes I love this amp, sometimes its too scratchy, but combined with an EQ in the effects loop today it recorded so good. Definitely a reason one of the best high gain amps ever conceived.

Nearly at the end of the pedal pile!! Scraping together enough to get the job done.
MXR Bonnamassa FET Driver: An odd fuzzy, squishy overdrive, sometimes becomes too mushy, but helped round out some edges today.
MXR 10 Band EQ: Should have already used this but its 18 Volt and couldn't be stuffed routing a new power supply with an 18 out. EQ's work 'generally' out front, and some guys use them like an overdrive, but they are so much more powerful in the FX loop, carve out unpleasant and boost the awesome they work a treat

Great track. Sweet blend of catchy and brutal!
My thrash playlist has an early Testament/ Exodus/ Havok section that this would fit right in with.

Honestly kept hearing an Exodus style lead in my head while tracking, Gary Holt has that big slide up to note style

Excellent shredding, good stuff.

The guitar sound indeed took me right there to good old 80s thrash. The drum sound is huge! It has a lot of Oomph in the kick.
