Speaker Test Generi-Metal 2 - Texas Heat

By Nyarlos on December 11, 2022 9:19 pm

Week 2 of the cab test, same type of song, same types of riffs, basically a copy of last weeks tracks for' consistency' lol
Same guitar, same 2 amps and barely touched the amp eq and gain settings, so everything except for the speaker itself was pretty much the same as last week.

The Eminence Texas Heat, I mostly chose it because I wanted a second Eminence and had to choose something with a similar spec to another speaker so they would be of similar volume, if you don't match the sensitivity spec you can end up with mismatched volumes.

A lot easier to get a high gain sound than last week, and while it needed a little more processing than my usual cab, it ended up fairly balanced.

Cons: Absolute ridiculous high end, had a lot of highs above 14k that were just total ice pick, but because they are so high, they are really easy to EQ out.
Pros: Decent amount of compression without being totally sterile, jacking the bass on the amp didn't give me the peaks the Cannabis Rex had, so should handle big low end decently.

Nice! Gits sounds heaps better than yester-weeks IMO. Almost like you were fighting the speaker to pull a tone before, where as this weeks Eminence was conducive to the high gain thang.

Very interesting... Very cool that you still move some air and take the time to mic cab.

There are so many decent cab simulation (or impulse responses) available that this is not something that most guitarists do. Sadly it is complicated for me to play loud (ish) at home so most of the time I record DI but it is way more fun when you move air and guitar-pick ups reacts to the room itself too...

Excellent job. Keep it up.

That should make it easier to compare for sure.

tone sounds nicely dialed to my ears. hard-hitting (must admit, I missed some equally powerful vocals). nice melody at 2:40.
