I apologise in advance to those with treble sensitivity!
I found a new band called Oathbreaker recently, as an old jaded guy its not actually often I find something new that really grabs me, but they are a hipster arty black metal band that doesn't actually forget about the black metal bit lol. So an inspired by track this week.
I shouldn't be repeating amps already, but I needed what the Mesa Dual Rectifier brings. No in DAW EQ or compression on any of the guitars, only hardware hardware treatment on the way in, which is always risky, you have to get it right at the source, but super happy with how it came together. Some delays and reverbs added, but tone wise, what came out is what went in. This isn't supposed to sound anything more than evil, crushing and oppressive to ears. The musical equivalent of a horror film lol. Synths are a single track of the incredible Spitfire Audio Scary Strings (which is free!!!!!!)
Other thing of note is wanted to use a dark sounding guitar, so used my oldest slab of timber, a Ibanez Artist from literally the month after I was born, serial dates it to October 1980. Vintage! It weighs approximately 5 tons, and is sooooo dark but a cool old girl. She looks better than I do for the same age.
