One Series of Riffs

By Nyarlos on May 5, 2024 10:23 pm

Metal jam band song this week. Just some mid paced riffs and harmony with a lead, end probably should have faded out, goes on a bit.
But the Blackstar Series One Gus G Signature was perfect for this song, a smoother kind of high gain that I can still get my brightness from, but doesn't get too harsh. 4 Channels, lots to play with, not actually a huge fan of Backstar's ISF control, they say it goes US to British, but its kind of like the 'contour' controls on old Marshall Valvestates. I never move it much more than from 11:00 to 1:00 to minimise the overall EQ shifts. Not always the first amp I grab, but I'm never unhappy with it.
There's only one big problem with it, it's DAMN heavy, being 200 watts the transformers are insane, and it's unbalanced when carrying. Its a full 32 kgs and the output transformer is all the way over on one side so it doesnt carry well.

Very cool riffs...and that's some precise playing! Excellent stuff!
