Power Metal is the red headed step child of heavy music to me. It is usually so lame its laughable, but I admittedly have a soft spot for Dragon force, the guys can PLAY, and they don't have the same serious tone that other power metal bands seem to relish in, this shit is cheesy and they know it.
So this was a lot of work, and only just got the mixing done, because I had so much guitar to play it took a long time, and even then its not my cleanest work lol. So many leads, so many melodies, so many overdubs. If there was a spare 20 seconds of backing, I'd add another lead lol
And that's the funny thing this week, Just so much work for the cheesiest major key playing I have ever done in my entire life. So I should either be incredibly ashamed of myself or proud I broke out of my 'serious' music habits. Im going with ashamed but amused at least.
Pedals for today:
MXR Micro Amp+: Still the best boost on the market, so much clean volume push, and has a handy eq to shave or push what you like to get your amp to respond nicely. A Banger.
Way Huge Angry Troll: The only pedal with FIST power lol. Not a clean boost, it gets gritty as you add fist, so not as versatile as the MXR, but has a particular nastiness.
Line 6 MM4 Modulation modeller: Because this style has very 'processed' guitar sounds, I added 2 different chorus modes to every layer of guitar here, always at least a touch on every track. Which there were a lot of!!!
