Panic On Chamber Street

By NWSPR on March 8, 2020 11:59 pm

Crazy week... but I got this in!  Picked bass guitar doubled with bass synthesizers and other virtual synths.  Recorded in a hotel room, then a car, and finished back at home in Brooklyn. Manic end to an insane week, this song is named for the moment I emerged from the Holland tunnel a few hours ago and got on Chamber street and realized I had to finish this track in about an hour.

My company was supposed to exhibit at SXSW and we just got word the festival was cancelled so we're trying to get all our shit back. Backwards logistical nightmare!  Anyone else singing the corona virus blues?  Everything is getting canceled over here (business trade shows and conferences).

Hope your week is going well.

I love the great upbeat energy you've been bringing.  This sounds much more joyous than anxious to me.  This corona virus mania is getting crazy.  I used to live in Austin.  Canceling SXSW is a really big deal.

A real fun energy to this song!

Good luck with dealing with SXSW fallout. I'm liking this wb trend of synthesizers, great instrumentation smile

This is awesome man, so upbeat and bright!  With a hint of Christmas?  That bass groove is killer, so much energy.  Glad you made it home in time and got this in, it turned out great.

That really sucks about your SXSW trip/the whole festival getting cancelled, sorry to hear.  Completely unwarranted in my opinion.  I work for the airlines and I'm worried I'll be out of a job soon if this hysteria continues.

Aaaah yes, that tom fill is positively lovely! Awesome melodies throughout this one, I'm on my second listen and I'm already humming parts. This is like the soundtrack for a frantic adventure, I feel more daring than anxious when listening. It makes me want to get things done!

I got that too a bit, I think it is from the descending bells, it's like ingrained in my head that this type of bell sound is a Christmas sound, the same thing happens when I listen to the Futurama intro. Old mental associations die hard!

haha this is such a Christmas sounding tune. Enjoying those bells and the tom rolls especially. The arrangement and mix are solid as a rock, as usual. Great stuff heart

So Joyful

This is feel good music. The bells were a great touch.

As hieme said, feels like a Christmas song to me cause of the bells! Yes, very "feel good".

Yeah!  Immediately thought about Christmas.  Sweet tune

I totally thought of xmas on this, good times. Good bridge and tunnel driving music too, make it a game! Way happier than viruses and logistical nightmares, which is a great thing! Freakout time is here indeed. Nothing too bad on my side of Washington (the other side's worse), but we hearing the call to work from home more and more.

I guess it's Christmas now.

Stay safe, wash your hands, hope for the best, keep making kickass music.

Cool track. Joyful and fun big_smile

Sure, a little Christmas, but a lot of Futurama! Don't know how to describe it, but my favorite part is the descending notes right after the bells.

Yeah, big deal for us.  Trying to get money back from the airlines.  Did finally get UPS to return our trade show display.  It's a clusterfuck but I hope to return next year.

Thanks! Yeah, I guess I must of had a bit of left over Christmas spirit on tap.  It's all the bells. Hope all works out with your job. This crisis is really growing rapidly.

Thanks!  The toms were my favorite part. Listening to your comps has got me paying more attention to the toms smile

Thanks! It's definitely in the bell.  I was going more for a late 70s disco sound like you would hear on Solid Gold with the dancers.  But I'll take Futurama.  Love that show!

Toms were so much fun to do, my fav part as well.  I guess I'm in the Xmas song writing business! Who knew?  Last week was spaghetti westerns, and this week Xmas.

Total Xmas sound.  Truth is, I added the bells because I thought it was sounding a bit like "Funky Town".   Thanks for listening. And ho ho ho!

It's like Funky Town meets Futurama, during a holiday special. Thanks for checking it out.

Well, merry xmas to you.  I'll be dreaming of a white covid-19 virus quarantine this week.  My office is going to work remote for the next two or three weeks starting tomorrow.

Thanks! Those descending notes were pretty much the genesis of the whole tune.  But reminded me of the song Funky Town so I tried to cover my tracks by adding bells. Merry Xmas and happy Futurama to you! An awesome TV show.

It's Christmas time in Coronaville! Love the upbeat vibe and those bell hits.  Excellent drums especially on those tom fills.
