Landing Party

By NWSPR on April 24, 2022 8:46 pm

This is your typical Close Encounters of the Third Kind mothership landing party. Imagine the flashing lights and a french dude at the synthesizer signaling the ship to land with music. I regret not going full Billy Thorpe Children of the Sun on this but I don't have the chops.

The gifs coupled with the opening tones hit a sort of nostalgic sweet spot for sure.  The changeup at around the 1:00 mark was fun, too.  It sounds like the aliens are letting loose.

heart nazi aliens and bluesy close encounters smile

You painted a nice soundscape for a VHS tape alienmovie. well done.

Nailed it. I want to see this scene. Always with the French guys and their signalling synths lol. Love how this picks up into a celebration, they've landed and all is well. Let's party in France. Boogaloo!

Whatever, it's a party. Let's go.

DOPE - Beam me up! The transition around the 1 minute mark is freaking magical!

I like how it turned from an ambient like track setting a mysterious atmosphere into a light pop track! Well that'd be one awesome way to welcome aliens on our planet!

I really like that main piano intro. The second part is groovy, fun stuff.

wait, I just figured out that a landing party is the opposite of a launch party!  love it.

great keyboard tone to start off.  hot beat to end things.  you kind of have an Opening Credits / Closing Credits vibe here!

I finally saw Close Encounters for the first time ever last year.  REALLY enjoyed it and also: imagine the pressure of playing music in front of aliens that might kill you if you play the wrong notes?!?!?!

Dang the intro was right on cue with the gifs there.  I thought a synth tuba blast was about to come thru any second.  I like how the first half is the other-worldly theme and then it transitions into the "it's ok guys it's just Alf!" party.  Also gotta love those drums towards the end.  Clap yo hands!

This is post-Daft-Punk music that sounds like something that Daft Punk would sample, then something that is both Daft Punk AND sampling itself, then it fades out. heart
