It's a Beautiful Day

By NWSPR on March 22, 2020 10:52 pm

Hello virus people. It's a beautiful day on lock down here in New York. Hope you are well, wherever you are quarantining.    Been busy trying to get the kids set up for online school and keeping my business afloat.  Will get some more listening in this week as things settle down into a dull, constant, state of chaos.

My track is sloppy, and I am not a guitarist or a singer, but not making any excuses.  I had a lot of fun and I am always quite pleased with myself so don't pop my bubble!  The lyrics are repetitive, but more of a mantra in my head, than well crafted storytelling.

Looking forward to hearing music from all you beautiful people.  Be well. Talk soon.

Love it! Hope the kids and business are okay. My business has gone pretty quiet but trying not to freak out haha. Nice quarantining with our little 8 month old bubba. Thanks for the fun and positive track.

Nothing wrong with the guitars or vocals to my ears.  Sounds like a nice slice of upbeat energy.  And it rocks, too.

"Virus person" is actually the only salutation I respond to now.  Cool to hear you sing on a track man, you've got a good voice.  Reminds me of the singer of REM, the lyrics too actually.  I love that piano doubled with synth solo/lead that pops up twice!  Such a cool tone pairing.

Reminds me a bit of Devo's Beautiful World, very nice.

Great job on the vocals, and nice touch with the piano!

Great Song man! Love this one smile

Uuuh you are too modest smile
Guitars are great!
I wish i could sing at least a bit... I am singing so awfully out of tune that i can't even play the guitar to it wink
Absolutly loving this vibes... It's a beautyfull day smile

Good that you’re singing while we still have working lungs.

It sounds like Peter Murphy from Bauhaus playing with 90s punk guitars band. smile

Ohhhhhhh yeah, this rocks so hard. Your guitars and vocals are fantastic, and sick guitar tone. Love the abrupt ending. Hope to hear a few more in this style this year, eh eh??

It sounds like Joy Division to me. Everything is rocking fine.

It definitely is a beautiful day now! Thanks for cheering me up with this ball of energy! I'm really happy you're singing! One of my favorite tracks of yours from 2018, At the End of All Days, had your voice in there too smile Got that super positive feeling ala B-52s throughout the compo, with the awesome piano riffs too! Thanks again, I needed a track full of joy like this today, and I'm saving it as I feel I'll be listening to this one quite a few more times!

lol you call this "sloppy" and this is better than most stuff out there!  I aspire to be this good!  You are a good guitarist and singer and this is not sloppy so STOP IT. Agreed with mikememo, the ending is great

Spot on!

This is rad! I like the loose vibe of the track. Works really well.

Damn dude, nice stuff. Keep rocking on, from outer space.

Whoa!!! This sounds so powerful and great... just the right amount of crunch nad very positive vibe, just what we need. Quite a feat to be able to keep making this kind of music at your situation (mine is pretty much the same, though the actual virus is not quite here, just yet). Catharctic stuff!

Thanks! Hey, me and my family are all hanging in there.  Starting our third week, we're kind of getting the hang of things.  Hope you and baby bubba are well!

Thanks for listening! Of course I can hear the mistakes but I'm being overly self conscious regarding my vocals and playing.  I'm doing better now that I am more comfortable in knowing what my range is.

Thanks Virus Person, or can I call you VP? Much appreciated.  The piano sounded a little blah on its own so I cut and paste the notes over to some brass and synth tracks and delayed a bit behind the piano.  Nice effect that sounds kind of 80s. Not sure why but it works.

Love that song... one of my fav Devo tracks.  Thanks!

Thanks! The piano comes easier for me.  I just let my fingers flail about.  It is the guitar that is a mystery.  But I have bar chords.

Ahh, come on... 2020 is the year to sing.  Get that auto-tuner out! You make up for it with some soulful guitar playing!

E-dub you win the week with this quote!  I look forward to vocalizing through my gill slits after mutating in the next pandemic.

Wow, thanks! I like Peter Murphy, so def an influence.

Thanks!! Be careful what you wish for (see this week's ZZ TOP inspired track) Once a bass player tastes the sweet sweet 6 strings... they can't handle it responsibly.

Thanks! I really appreciate the encouragement.  Thank the gods of technology for all the virtual amp modeling that makes my chicken scratching sound like something.  I think I'm getting better at identifying my limits in vocal range and playing ability which lets me push things a bit more.  Definitely learning a lot by listening to everyone and reading their notes on production.  Your music has been especially inspiring for its range of styles and warmth in delivery.

Damn, that's a fine compliment.  Love Joy Division.

Ha, yeah, trying to stay positive! Wow, At the End of All Days, thanks for remembering that!  I like to sing but have a limited range.  Just need to stay in that range.  I am not beneath singing poorly if it brings me joy, but sometimes feel bad for the listeners.  Hope you are well Gab, you had a great track this week, very different.

Loose is what I do best Mr. Roboctopus.  Thanks!

Thanks! We're all rocking it in outer space spinning and hurtling on our way. The universe not the least bit aware of our pandemic.

SALUTATIONS, VIRUS PEOPLE!
