I Like To Be On

By NWSPR on July 26, 2020 11:06 pm

Hello week 30. The best thing I can say about this track is at least you didn't have to hear the "jazz " version smile Maybe next week if I get desperate enough.  This week I'm using the KingKorg for vocoder and the Beheringer model d for chimes and melody lines.  Drums and pads are Logic stock instruments.

Enjoying the summer and not finding as much time for music for the next few weeks.  But I'll try and get more listening in.  Be safe, be well!

Awesome man, love the instrumentation this.  That lead after the little drum break sounds huge.  Kinda want to hear the jazz version now though.

The intro reminded me of Daft Punk. smile As always, a great mix! I love the sound of the drums you get there, the synth layers in the back and of course the vocoder!

Sounds like the robots are really taking over.  Awesome vocoder and synth work and a nice big sound across the board.

Aw yeah that's a kick ass beat that rolls in. The robo voice sounds pretty neat too.

Nice work with the robotic vocals!
Jazz version please. big_smile

Love when the drums come in; the whole track takes on a new feel. smile

Gotta love long note melodies over half time, very epic. Jazz version please! I'm curious to hear what it sounds like haha.

Ok, you'll have to release the Jazz version. Seriously, great track. Very groovy drums, nice instrumentation. Well done.

I dig vocoders. I use them sparingly, but always enjoy my product when I do. Yours works really well with the rest of your mix.

This song is hot. The vocoder, the synths, the drums, the melodies and the mix are epic. everything fits perfectly well. You can`t top it.

Yes please jazz version! Loving the vocoder here. smile

Ha ha... NO - You don't! It's fucked smile Thanks for checking it out!

Thanks! Yeah, I had Daft Punk in mind.  The song is a parody of President Trump and these 5 words sited as an example of his cognitive abilities. He seems to have no humanity, or to be detached from human experience. I was also listening to a bunch of Kraftwerk last week and the two kind of merged into a robot trying to emote.

Thanks! I think I gave things room to breathe which is hard for me.  I like to heap on the sauce smile

Thanks! That beat is four drum kits. Two of the loops are the same but offset by a few beats. One of the loops is run through overdrive (I got that idea from @ModulatedDrummer) Two electronic kits double the kick and snares only on the 1 and 3 beats to stiffen it up. But it all sounds like one beat so not too sloppy smile

No, I call it the jazz version but I don't really know what it is.  It's in 5/4 and is just a bunch of bad playing! I don't know anything about jazz so it would be really wanky smile

Thanks! I like it as well and a kick ass drum line can save time on writing a real bridge. I was pretty desperate 1 hour before deadline but sometimes I do better in panic mode.

It's just a mess of bad ideas and I was so pissed off I just flailed about on the keyboards and in my ignorance called it jazz and closed the the file.  I may get desperate enough for a track that I will post it.  Still 22 weeks to go! Thanks for checking out the non-jazz version!

Thanks man! From now on, I will only do jazz tracks.  Smooth jazz.

You got a much stronger voice! I would use vocoders less if I could hold a tune.  But they are fun to use and I was listening to a lot of Kraftwerk last week. Thanks for checking it out!

Thanks! I really didn't like it when I posted it but a day later I like it much better.  Happy that I kept it sparse and short.

No... Thanks, but your ears will bleed. Calling it "jazz" in quotes was being generous. Thanks for checking out this version though!

The beginning of the voice line has a powerful amount of bass that emphasizes the start and sets precedence for the vocal line. Each instrument meshes together into a solid piece at the half way point. Another solid track.

Excellent use of the orange in chief's idiocy lol!  Love when the beat breaks in especially.  Nice work!

Great drums on this! Layering is a great technique
