Five Weeks

By NWSPR on May 10, 2020 11:24 pm

Happy Mother's Day! This song goes out to all the weekly beats moms and the moms of weekly beaters. Bringing the tempo back up this week for a power pop track with same instruments as last week.  Got bass, guitar, keys, and some very sparse harmonica.  Had hoped to do some vocals but would need at least a week to figure it out.  You can hear the spots where vocals would have gone so just sing along (with your mom). Hopefully, I'll remember to get back to this at a future date.

I am working on a style of lots of different instruments in unison, mixed low to give a single melody that sounds richer.  And then punctuating that at times with drums.  It's a simple formula but I really like it.  Or it may sound repetitive and monotonous if I don't get it right.  Vocals would help, for sure.

On a different subject, I may need some simple acoustic guitar chords in an upcoming track if anyone can help me out.  Just basic strumming in the background of a song I want to do but I don't have an acoustic available.

Hope you virus guys and gals are all doing well! Just 5 more weeks of this (I hope).  See you in the comments and don't forget to call your mom!

Just comes out the gate with great energy.  I can definitely hear the vocals that want to be all over this.  Seems like a good candidate to re-visit for sure.  Also, just how simple are we talking about with these acoustic guitar strums you speak of?  I could probably do it if nobody else offers, but I bet there are a lot better strummers out there than me.  smile

wow. so much power in this track. you will have to find lyrics for it. that is what is missing.  write to me, if you don`t find an acoustic guitar strummmer. OK?

Here's for the moms! I had my mom over for backyard brunch and we were safe. She would like this song. She doesn't always get my music. What a happy fun progression sweet melody and sounds here. Great little breakdowns. I'll always have a sweet spot for some pop like this. I hummed along a little, vocals will fit right in there.

Hell yeah man!  Quite the jam this week, super feel good.  I'm loving the unison thing too, it really packs a punch.

Super feel good! Let me know if you need a drummer one of these days. I'd love to rock out to a feel good track like this!

Damn I love me some power pop. Like, power pop is my main jam during quarantine. Power pop all day every day XD

This is really well composed and executed too. Yeah, vocals would really put this over the top.

It's impossible to say whether it's actually going to be 5 weeks though. It's called novel for a reason.

Nice song though, great job on the keys. Simple but effective.

Nice track with a good happy vibe. It is welcome in these times. I like the vintage keys in the background as well, they add a nice subtle atmosphere. Cool break! Claps! harmonica solo! It feels like a summer barbecue party with friends.

I sang along in my head with Robert Smith's vocals tongue  Great use of all the instruments especially the drums with all the changes.  Digging the harmonica and electric piano too.  Well done!
