Carriage Horses

Soooo... wasup? [awkward pause] Yeah, I took a leave of absence due to uncontrollable laziness and procrastination. It's a lovely place to visit and I thought I might not come back but I missed WB and will try and hang in a bit longer.

Not sure if we have any Dead Kennedy fans passing through the comments but famed drummer D.H. Peligro passed away a couple weeks ago. One of my all time favorites. So I dropped a little Holiday In Cambodia inspired tom work in the intro in honor of Darren Henley. R.I.P. D.H.P. !!

This week, I was in the mood to work on another hardcore / synth punk track. It's up tempo with distorted Moog Liberation lead synths, sequenced bass and no guitars.  The lyrics are moody and vocal delivery sketchy at best with some muddy, lower volume spots I didn't get mixed correctly. There are some cool new sounds I worked out by slamming the pressure sensitive keys to trigger a sharp filter clicking that is a good substitute for that rhythmic pick noise/attack guitars have.

Realizing this noisy cacophony is not everyone's cup of tea, I appreciate anyone listening and putting up with it.  It's a bit slapped together but I had a blast with it and will try to polish it up a bit next year.

HOPE YOU ARE ALL DOING WELL! Sorry for yelling.  NWSPR is pumped up over the blue wave in the mid-terms!

Respect. Respect. Respect. you have nailed the Ian Curtis meets cyberpunk vibe. a legendary song!!!!!!!

Welcome back!  I bought Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables on a whim as a teenager because the band name and the song titles appealed to my sense of wanting to stick it to the Man.  That whole album is great, but Holiday in Cambodia is a killer track.  Love the punk rock energy on this track.  You really nailed the drums.

I liked how you used a noisy intro that then cleared up, it's like getting out of the fog and seeing a very wide valley.

I had not seen the drummer of the Dead Kennedys had died! I love Holiday in Cambodia - great band!
Cool electro punk track! I'm glad you're back for the last line!

Love the pace of the drums especially with the fills.  Totally feeling that punk energy.  The vocal lines with the progression of the guitars is extra awesome at the 2min mark.  I'm not sure if it's the guitar or the Moog but love how theres that one droning note carrying along with the progression.  Good to have ya back!

Yeeeya! RAW AND RIDDLING WITH REALITY! (i wish you didn’t fade out gradually, tho… makes it feel less punk for some reason, hahahaha… just teasing)
So great, i especially love how up-close-personal-and-real your voice feels here, and the lyrics are intense to just the right degree heart

, perfect backdrop to the times.

oh i forgot to drop my contribution to the angsty gifs, here ya go:

awe RIP D.H. & the carriage horses of NY

This is some unbridled fun
