An artist named Lou Beauty once prepared some beats for me to use back when I was living in Bakersfield. I have a little folder with a few of them and for most of them I never got around to writing songs on top of them. Looks like Weekly Beats will give me an opportunity to visit some corners of my workshop long left dusty and unfinished to see what kinds of bars and melodies I might place on top of them. Here is one about the dangers of falling in love and its addictive properties.
Both the hero the villain and a zero and a million
You get lost in contradiction, it’s a dangerous addiction
Your favorite game is chicken with that trauma that you’ve hidden
But you can’t afford physicians so you go on expeditions
Psilocybin, a drive through Long Islands, you’re screaming at God as you fly down the highway
“DID YOU FORGET THAT YOU ASKED ME TO LOVE THEM?!”
Cause they all run like real love is a four letter curse
I spilled all this whine on the verse now I’m soaked to my lungs so I’m swerving off course
And I’m slurring my lines cause I haven’t rehearsed, hit reverse, stop the hearse, I need to spew out this curse
Love is poisoned and it’s never enough, Love is poisoned and it’s never enough
Love is poisoned and it’s never enough, Now hand me your cup so that I can drink up
I was born a robot I’m still learning how to drive this man shaped human mecha-suit, it’s hungry by design
I’ve been devouring the populace, no lonely heart is safe cause I am searching for survivors to ensure none can escape
Swipe right, swipe right, hit that super like
, Swipe right, swipe right, hit that super like
Swipe right, swipe right, hit that super like, We might find some love tonight but it will die by morning light cause
Love is poisoned and it’s never enough, Love is poisoned and it’s never enough
Love is poisoned and it’s never enough, Love is poisoned and it’s never enough
Love is poisoned and it’s never enough, Love is poisoned and it’s never enough
Love is poisoned and it’s never enough, Now hand me your cup so that I can drink up
