Falling Every Day - (Acoustic)

By Ninefingers on February 18, 2024 9:00 pm

So this week was crazy busy with different shows going on and I did not have time/energy to go completely from scratch this week. These are bars from a non acoustic hip hop song I've been working on for a bit (other than that super simple chorus, which I came up with as we played together and I realized I wanted to sing a little bit to that guitar line) but my friend August came over on Thursday (the guitarist) cause he wanted me to help him with one of his hooks. So while he was here I said, "Why don't you throw down some chords you like and I'll just run some bars over them that I think fit the mood and that way if I run out of time for WB I'll upload our little live session on Sunday". So he played these chords and I put these bars on top of them. Then before uploading I added a few seconds of backing vocals to try to emphasize the idea of being apart from each other but still being part of the same song. Anyway. Here is a love song that tries to express love not only before and during a relationship but also after it ends.

I could say there was a moment when I fell for you last night
Like some curtains pulled aside and you were bathed inside the light
Like it was something from a story, like you were shining so bright
Like the rest of the world faded cause they couldn’t match your sight
I could say it and it would be true but it would not be the whole truth
Cause the truth is I’ve been falling since that first day that I met you

When you asked about my hat, and the pen I keep attached
Do I use it to write stories or is it an aesthetic to attract questions
I had questions too, like were you attached and were you attracted to the ways I am or what I do

But I was afraid, didn’t want to scare you away and so I swallowed all those words I really wanted to say
Cause if I opened my mouth my tongue would surely betray that I was dreaming of our future on that very first day
And then I fell for you again the first time I heard your voice
It was honest it was lovely, the kind of sound that just destroys all my defenses
I am helpless every time that I hear it because my life is always richer every time my ears are near it
I hope you sing forever, I hope your song never ends
I hope you’re always appreciated by your lovers and your friends
And I hope I’m always nearby to lift a light to the sky, to help illuminate the notes you sing and lift them up high

Whether we're together, or whether we're apart
I'll be here in your corner, cause you're a part of my heart

And then I fell for you again when you came out to my show

When all the colors of your outfit matched the shades of my soul
Man you’re the dopest, cause every choice you’ve ever made is earnest
From all those fits that you rock to all the music you drop
There is no cynicism in the way you shape your world
I think that’s beautiful, I think you’re beautiful
And there’s such lyricism in the way you share your soul
I think that’s beautiful, I think you’re beautiful

Whether we're together, or whether we're apart
I'll be here in your corner, cause you're a part of my heart

Thanks so much, I appreciate it!

"whether we're together or whether we're apart ill be here in your corner cause your apart of my heart" is just so classic and original at the same time, and the part about the pen in your hat is so great,

Aye, that's kind of you! Thanks so much. I wrote the bulk of the song in a postcard when I fell in love with someone (the postcard said all the same things without rhyming) and gave it to them. We then ended up together for a year before recently breaking up, although we've worked hard to remain close friends. The chorus that I added for this version about being together or apart was something said in the now and currently only exists in this acoustic version of the song.

niice gives me that early 90s guitar rap summer vibe
