This week's track has quite the interesting story behind it, but first the tl;dr: Here's a 155 BPM fast Hi Nrg Trance Track - I hope you have as much fun listening to it as I had making it
Long version: Earlier this week I was watching a YouTube video called "9 Weirdest Songs of the 90s That You Can't Help But Love" and (naturally) it had Aqua - Barbie Girl in it. Talking about Barbie Girl the YouTuber however also mentioned a song called "My Mamma Said" by Aqua (which is actually a quite decent song). Wanting to add it to a playlist, I just searched for "My Mamma" on Spotify and the results also showed me a song called "My Mama Dropped LSD in the 90's" by some guy named Marlon Hoffstadt. Not expecting much, I took a listen, and oh boy, does this track own. It's a 148 BPM Trance Banger and I found myself listening to it on repeat.
So I decided to look up Marlon Hoffstadt and found that apparently he's been going through the roof in the past few years - so much so, that he got a 2hr slot this year at Tomorrowland, an Essential Mix this year and did multiple Boiler Room sets in the past months (two of which you can also find online). And he is playing exactly like "My Mama Dropped LSD in the 90's" sounds - highly energetic trance music at 150 BPM. This reminded me so much of my early clubbing days, when Paul van Dyk was spinning highly energetic trance at up to 145 BPM, and had me dancing in my chair and kitchen for days I can't stop listening to this guy.
The story is not finished yet I decided to do a ~150 Hi Nrg Trance track for this week and searched for accapellas I can use for that. I found one called "Stay Fly" on a page that claimed that all samples provided are royalty free. I started building the track and (way too late) in the process made the call to look up the accapella and found out it's by Three 6 Mafia - so it's highly unlikely it's royalty free, meaning I had to swap the vocals last minute. Luckily I found this quite dope accapella by Bonafide Suspects (it looks like this one should be royalty free), so here we go In case you're interested in the Three 6 Mafia version, I put it up on Soundcloud
One last thing: This track is inspired by Marlon Hoffstadt's remix of "Klubbheads - Kickin' Hard"
Quite a long text for such a short track, but I still hope you had fun listening to it
