this could potentially be a good song someday.

this took me way too long to finish. a lot of it is still pretty awkward.

1. those filter transitions don't really work, any tips?

2. arrangement is obviously far from finished.

3. i like the last section before the outro, with the bouncier melody, but does it fit with the rest of it?

4. mix is weak, clipping overall, need real monitors.

5. more variety in the drumming would be good too.

CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM WELCOME.

fucking yes, huge sound here

1. i think they would work if you just added a riser/melody of some sorts over top
2. ok!
3. ya, I think so!
4. ya it's hot as fuk - honestly in that first part if you heavily sidechained the chords to the kick you p much have a str8 dance banger section
5. i thought there was def enough variations in this short song!

A++

thanks dude! now i gotta learn how to sidechain!

This is already solid man. Great melodies and the mixing sounded good to me. I thought the filter sweeps worked well too.

i kind of think the middle section with the spazzy melody is kind of dumb, idk.

cool track to zone out too.  very gooch-esque!!!

if i had to suggest something, maybe the snares could be less of a dull thud, bump them up an octave or two and complement it with some brighter noise to make it bite even more?  *shrugs*

yeah i can hear the nu-gooch influence now that you mention it. kind of like the slower dance stuff from endless fantasy.

i also think you're right re: the snare. i'm actually using only an0va's nanoloop samples for this but it might sound good to layer it with something brighter.

Love that intro! And the rest as well! Personally not a fan of the marimba-sounding instrument near the beginning, but that is probably just me.

I don't really have anything in the way of pro tips, but I really dig this.

yeah the bells are kind of piercing. i revisited this and added a different synth line to that part that kind of helps. but yeah thanks for listening!

haha thanks man

Yo this song has a ton of potential. Looking forward to hearing the final product at some point!

I don't have too much to add to what has already been said. I definitely think a melody over the filter transitions would be cool.

The one other thing I would say is the transition from the part with the faster/higher energy drums to the repeated first part (verse?) is a little abrupt, but I think it could be cool if you carried the high energy drum beat back into the verse(?) or maybe carried that great melody in over top of what the verse is already doing, and then switch over to the bouncier melody to finish the song. Just something to mess around with!

Hugeness! If you ask me, the melody comes in right when it works best. And I love the sharp transitions between sections. Do you sing? Vox would not be out of place here...

yeah that whole middle part with the high energy drums is weird and awkward. very out of nowhere. it's kind of like a different song in the middle. i might scrape it entirely and stick with the slower dance kind of part instead.
