Snow White Testarossa

Lyrics
Snow White Testarossa
No Socks Penny Loafers
He just stepped of the plane from San Tropez

Ray Ban Aviators
Chinos Padded Shoulders
He Makes me feel like I'm the only girl in here

He makes my yacht rock
My jan hammer and my moet pop
he knows what a fool believes
He wears his gucci with rolled up sleeves

Treats me like a lady
Dressed up like I'm Sade
Wrote me a solo on his CS-80
goes like....

MASSIVE SYNTH SOLO

Took me to Hawaii
Mustache like Magnum PI
He proposed while we were fighting crime
He said

You make my yacht rock
In red stilettos and a feather cut
I'm not a fool to believe
I wore my wedding dress with rolled up sleeves

Geoff Bridges is Rockwell Steele - Part time bartender at Bongo's Tiki Lounge and synth player in the house band Boogaloo Joe (Played by the real life members of Toto)
Fights crime in his Testarossa Spider. Lives on a super yacht in Marina Del Rey in LA and wears nothing but Gucci even though he has no obvious source of income other than his part time bar job..

Rosanna Arquette is Alexis Silke - Pulitser prize winning investigative journalist and part time swimwear model.

Together they are the crime fighting duo Silke and Steele.

Bongo - Dean Stockwell  owner of Bongo's Tiki Lounge and creator of PORCARO (Patchable, Oscillator, Routing, Crime, Analysis, Reasoning Operating-system) - A self aware computer and modular synthesizer which they use to fight crime.

Their main plot of the show relates to a drug triangle between LA, Hawaii and Miami leading to the show having regular crossovers with Magnum PI and Miami Vice.

Kenny Logins plays - Santino the drug gang enforcer and Christoper Cross plays the shadowy "El Conquistador" the kingpin of the whole organisation.

Eventually when the ratings slip PORCARO is downloaded into a futuristic hovercraft deigned by knight industries and he becomes "Hover Cop" although many people feel the show jumped the shark at this point.

Music Breakdown
This started as a lofi indie / hiphop track, with some weird modal mixture chords.
A: Am7 -> Cm9 -> Bm7 -> Fmaj7 -> Am7 -> Cm9 -> Bm7 -> E7
B: Dmaj9 -> Gmaj9 -> Dmaj9 -> F#m7 -> E7

When I was trying to work out what they were called Gemini commented they were "Yacht Rock" chords which set me off on the lyrical theme and accounts for why the lyrics don't really match the musical style.

Musically it's very simple: Easy drummer for the beat with a very damped 70's type kit. Moog Bass from The Legend, Prophet 5 keys from Repro 5, Arturia Yangtze for the instrumental lead riff,
The solo is a tribute to Rosanna, but the Purdy shuffle on the drums sounds a bit weird at the higher tempo.
Depite declaring it to be on a CS-80 I found it didn't sound right for the Rosanna style solo. Looking up the original it's apparently a layered CS-80, Moog, Prophet and Jupiter (The 80's huh big_smile ) I used an Oberheim via Obsession as that always screams 80's synth solo to me.

Vocals are once again Synthesizer V Solaria, she makes an excellent Alexis Silke.

The massive synth solo was fantastic. Loved all it.

I love the 80s feel of this and the synths sound fantastic and on point, but the vocals are almost too clean and modern to fit lol. Gosh I just made an argument for vintage-sound or whatever and I kinda hate myself for that lol. Either way, tons of fun this track, and the synth solo is pristine!

Yeah I know what you mean and my wife said the same thing.

Solaria is an amazing voice model, but the person it's modelled from is a Broadway singer and you can't really dial that out.

Thanks dude.

It was basically what I remembered the Rosanna solo sounded like without listening to it. Then I listened to it and it sounds nothing like it other than using triplets big_smile

Just reading the title, I had the Kavinsky/SebastiAn remix in my head. Your track however is indeed more a synthwave/yachtrock-crossover. Interesting story idea, btw. The self aware computer/gadget is very 80s.
For that style, I'd probably prefer more of a Stevie Nicks kinda voice, but those may be hard to come by.

I guess you have already seens the Marinelli Porcaro "interview" where they recreate some of the Toto sounds?

Yeah I would love the Stevie Nicks voice unfortunately there isn't something that fits the bill that I've found so far. I'm going to do a track with Havok next week, but that's more or a "Metal" voice so again very tied to a specific genre.

This shit needs to be greenlit already.

Big 80s vibes, and I love it. The vocals actually remind me a bit of early Air stuff off Moon Safari. Just a bit more diaphragm singing and less breathiness.

Dope track!

Gives me GTA 6 vibes! Brilliant work, dude!

great job, yes, definitely need this in GTA!

Very cool. Snow White Testarossa is the sensible choice

Super cool, what a vibe, haha. The compression on the intro is nicely tuned. Also TIL about AI vocalists! RIP vocaloid?

Can't wait for the next PORCARO firmware update. big_smile

Yeah I've been very impressed with Synth V

To clarify it is basically a Vocaloid / voice database rather than generative AI like Suno (which I wouldn't use).

Synth V is the tech behind some of the Vocaloid performers like Teto although Miku is still running on the Yamaha Vocaloid platform.

I did look at the IK voice AI, but it's basically a fancy voice changer and doesn't really make you a better singer.

This is great! Solid 80s vibe and fun lyrics (the yacht rock line cracked me up). Brilliant stuff!

Not sure anyone has noticed this yet, but this song has some strong 80s themes.

What an absolute banger

Great cohesive vibe pulling this all together, love the description, super fun lyrics, I would watch this show.

Fun and funny. The off-beat Prophet + crash hits are great. Love the high FM(?) Miami-style toms. Really like the bass turnarounds at the end of each phrase and how that gets elaborated in the solo. The "rolled up sleeves" callback is my favorite part of the lyrics, and I laughed at "My jan hammer and my moet pop." But the best part is the solo, which is equally silly and brash

I always appreciate your thoughtful analysis.

I have to look into this Synthesizer V thing smile That solo rips and the production is spot on. Amazing stuff!
