Heat Dome

This weeks Weekly Beats is a bit of a mashup.
I was going to write another vocaloid J Pop track using the Royal Road progression then started to go in a bit more of a Trance direction, but then I got distracted by seeing if I could remember how to make a techno rumble.(turns out I could) and so it ended up as a bit of a techno trance, pop hybrid.
No restrictions on gear this week so I'm using Dune 3 for keys and bass, Repro for Keys, Hive for the riser. Roland TB303 for the Acid.
Percussion is Bitwig's built in 808 and 909 kits + Kick 3 for the thumpy stuff + a lovely bit of shaker from Skaka.
I'm rubbish at EQing so I tried getting Sonible smart EQ4 this week and I think it's made a positive impact in having a balanced frequency range.
The track is pretty simple and didn't take long to write, but techo is a bit more of a "technical genre" in that it has a formula that's been perfected to the point that most tracks you hear sound massive so I think you have to put the work in so that it doesn't sound weak.
That did lead to me putting far more effort in to mixing and mastering than I usually do.
The track has been very influenced by the hot weather and trance has a history of sun / heat related track names so it's called Heat Dome after
the weather phenomenon which is causing the current European heat wave.
