The Doors are Locked

By ngineer on July 27, 2020 12:01 am

My friend built a horror puzzle dungeon in Minecraft and I made this song to be the background music for a Youtube video. I'm excited because this is a big first for me as well as my longest track maybe ever smile

I love it dark
And this is exactly my taste in music!

That's nice. I like the fuzziness of the line, and for some reason the repeating pattern gives that impression of neverending maze.

Hell yeah, there's literately a subgenre out there called dungeon synth so this fits nicely haha. I agree with Kedbreak136 that the fuzziness is an awesome characteristic for the main line, it helps to create the tension you need for a horror theme and that fuzz swell at 04:12 is a cool way to break up the track into distinct sections. The pulsing at the end, almost like a heartbeat, it a cool way to end the song too. Good job and congrats on a cool track smile

Sweet, I love that crunchy bass sound and the simple quarter note line.  Super simple and catch, definitely a cool theme to keep going throughout.

Thanks! Yeah something weird with the time signature here, I overlapped 12/4 with 5/4 or something? and then used the interference pattern where they catch up to each other to form the backbone of the song. but I'm not sure if those time signatures are correct, I'm not very used to anything but 4/4. but it's designed so that the whole thing could loop indefinitely as a "background track" in a game or menu for instance.

Thanks man that's really awesome! I love that dungeon synth is a genre and that I made something that could be called that lol. This track was really fun to make! I'm glad you like the fuzz, that 3xOSC with I think sin and some noise for osc2 and then a bunch on top of that.

Yeah I definitely felt like I needed something simple at the core of it smile thanks for listening

Loving that growling bass! Sweet sound design here.

That's a lot of energy in it; I love the atmosphere it pulls out too, despite the distortions.
