AFTER ESS

By naught101 on April 21, 2024 10:34 am

No-effort this week. Made a pretty big life decision that I've got very mixed feelings about, and then went bush of a few days, so haven't had the headspace or energy to make something.

This track was originally written in 2021, using ideas (and some of the instruments, maybe?) from Ess Mattisson's WERTSTOFFE one-track m8 project (which is available as a bundle on the m8 discord, and well worth exploring).

It's all written using a single (monophonic) track on the m8. Anything that sounds layered is just the delay/reverb.

Congrats on getting a beat out anyways and hope you are hanging in there! This is awesome. Favorited.

It sounds very restrained, which makes sense on just one track, but you populated it well

one track wow! sounds sick. i'm inspired to get more minimal, thank you.

congrats on MAKING the life decision, which is tough to do
and good luck on making it work.  hope it does!

funny, i was just talking about Ess with ENCOWELL during the weeklymeets hangout and about how great the Model:Cycles is

hey! really interesting étude, (way better than my attempt on the LGPT MonoRave Compo: M0N0R4V3N haha)
Really liked the skweee-like vibe!

insanely cool dude. love this so much.

Thanks! I looked up your tune - if that's all mono I'm super impressed, how did you get the bass to sound through the kicks like that?

Oh sorry that was really misleading, the compo was named monorave because it was made using a wavetable sample called monowave x_X then I thought I'd do a mono monowave.wav part at the end, it's only a single channel after 3:46 x_X

no idea how I managed to format the comment like that, I blame mobile

Presumably somethings screwy with one of the quote tags. I think I've seen it before, can't remember where.

All of this is on one track? That’s pretty incredible. I may try to challenge myself like this during one of these weeks! Great job, naught101!
