Trenton, New Jersey

I pushed the boat out this week, since this piece sees the completion of my own Song a Week for a Year challenge.
I finally reached towards realisation of the apocalyptic vision I've always had and combined a coherent lyrical idea with a musical setting that helped harness and focus it. I'm satisfied that this song approaches what I had in mind when I started.
Vocals were very kindly performed by Martin Byrne.

Wrestling with a conscience
Wrestling with control
Wrestle with the controls, it's one and the same
We're stacked like wood, stacked like the odds against us
The controls are out of reach
Call centre 8am
I didn't notice it slipping in

He's an intelligence man
Sure and clear and strong
Loyalty informs the world
Staring eyes
Creased brow
Early morning sunlight
Shining on the paint

Everything must stop now
Things cannot go on the way they have
Shutting it all down now

I pray to God
My God
What am I doing?

So many missing, so much rumour
No new facts until there are

A crater in a cow field
One for the brain
Spilled like Loose Change
Two for the heart

Few saw the first
Fewer explained it
No-one missed the last
Now there is meaning

Planting passports in the debris field
Who would do it?
Wrestling with a conscience
Wresting control

That is really a great Track!
Lovely dramatic Piano and some nice heavy E-Guitars... ok I kind of hoped that the second Part stays metall... But I guess these changes in mood make the song so interesting...

Thanks! You're right, I wanted to keep it as heavy as possible, but I couldn't get the effect or the narrative I wanted without going heavy-light-heavy-light!

I was only going to comment on the rather good production as I'm not really a rock music fan but i have to say this was enjoyable smile

Very well done.

Thank you smile I was trying to avoid rock-tropes as much as possible, beyond the instrumentation.  For once!

I dug the contrasts between the heavier and lighter sections and thought the vocals were really nice on this one as well.

Like the filter effect at the beginning, surprised by the change in mood after the intro, I enjoyed each part of this track from the aggressive to calmer sections

Stunning!!! There is a lot of great stuff in this song: The increadible intro, the heavy section and the Jeff Buckley kind of feeling to me. Bravo!
