king minus one

wrote these lyrics while watching the Coen brothers version of Macbeth.

mostly original lyrics, but had to rip some Shakespeare too because whatever he's dead anyway.

for the track I'm 110% trying to make something that would fit in with Massive Attack's Mezzanine (i don't think it does, but i like it anyway).

track was made on the M8, choir is Arturia Mellotron with a ton of replika, tracked in FL Studio, vocals tracked in FL studio.

Mezzanine was such a big album on the late 90's! I was on my late hi-schools days.

Love the big bass, nice vocals too. I have to go back to it.

Love the pads at the end, it changes the mood. I remember more the very hard songs from that album.

Really liked this, but Mezzanine is such a masterpiece that it is hard to get close!

agree! i don't think I got close lol, but I still like what I did.

Great reference, I think it does have a Mezzanine vibe! Congrats!

Great vocals! Love the grit they have and how they sit on the mix. Also particularly enjoyed that you used some actual Shakespeare in the lyrics. Choral pads were a great choice at the end, made everything that much more epic.

Love this. I don't think Billy's lawyers will be calling big_smile

Those are some sick beats!! Nice work

I also dig the warbling that the kick has going on. It hits hard. Nice work!

awesome!!

they really overprocess everything but the bass on that album, which is such an interesting choice (my synth bass is definitely not as round and full). i think i could have gone a little more hard on the choir, more processing to give it that smokey black and white feeling.

if they do, it'll be from beyond the grave. the juice is worth the squeeze imo. pablo picasso gained notoriety through his connection to the theft of the mona lisa... getting sued by bill's ghost legal team might just be the thing that punches my ticket. lol

From this pack of JOMOX samples rekkerd analog kick pack. kick_m_10. i had totally forgotten how i made this kick, and it's just this sample, with a but of the highs filtered out. also a good reminder to drag some gear out and make some kicks, then process them a little for texture.

🫂 i am glad you like it!

Dude, it sort of feels like old NIN.  Cool track

This sounds dark and gritty. Are you the one singing the vocals? They're pretty damn cool!!! Nice job!!!

This rules. (There is surely a bit to be done here relating to this being about a ruler but I'm recovering from surgery and cannot for the life of me find it.)

Yup, that's me! Instead of trying to record and process them in the m8, i just used fruity loops.

are you saying that the ruling jokes came to a head, then were suddenly cut short?

This would be excellent for Shakespeare's gangster renditions.
