last week someone thought my track had "dune vibes" so I figured I would take a double harmonic major scale, and write a little 'alien abduction' style confession and make it into a track. Make a little sci-fi track.

It could use a better mix IMO, and maybe I didn't need to be quite SO literal with the confession (recorded it to an actual cassette player, then slowed it down). I feel like I nailed the tone for the first part, but couldn't quite get the second part to feel right.

This sounds great. loved the glitchy sounds in the intro. And when those distorted synths come in at 2:00 it sounds soo cool, it's kinda like a warped industrial version of a dubstep drop. Pretty awesome.

Thanks!

I think that heavy metal and dubstep rely heavily on the double harmonic major scale, and so my ear is guided there. "you know what this needs is a sick drop that ties it all together."

I think this track is not done. I want to take the stronger theme in the start and build on it as the "A" part. The flutey parts in the backround are too wandery, and they don't evoke any memorable idea (maybe that doesn't matter) but it also doesn't gel with that main theme. The story needs to be re-recorded cleaner. Then for the second chorus drop, I want it to be a lot more glitched out. The second part of the story needs to really deliver on the feeling of meeting ones self in the past, I think right now, you don't really feel it.

I dunno, i don't usually like to criticize or qualify my own work for others (I am never satisfied, ever, and I feel it takes away from the experience when artists put down their own work). A glimpse behind the scenes XD.

Love the mechanical clicking like percussion and the forlorn strings. Also enjoy the clank of the industrial snare.

The build of the track towards the drop at 2:03 is very good, it creates all this space and context. When the hell breaks loose this happens within the greater sonic world you built before so it hits extra hard. Along with the narrative, this is like an electronic version of "The Dead Flag Blues" from "F♯ A♯ ∞". Kudos!

sounds awesome! the voice is super compelling. after reading your notes, I'm like whatttt artists do get into their own head. this is great! (then again that's how you get to high quality, by continuously iterating and trying to improve so fair enough)

love the thick synths and the drums and the glitches too. it's a nice buildup. there are some little melodies in the intro that work, but I'm not sure if they can be thought of the same as melodies in more traditional songwriting. made me think tho, without those melodies there would only be the texture, but this way there is something to grab onto.

I didn't listen closely to the lyrics. it works as a nice texture as well tho.

I love Godspeed and that album so I hear exactly what you mean!

That is... quite the compliment. I don't know what to say. I just got compared to a Godspeed track and that will probable leave a glow on me for awhile.
