Swingset Rivalry

I started out with the opening synth sound, just messing with some MPE, and then I added the synth bass, which I had to strip most of the MPE channels out of because it was too messy. I wasn't sure where I was going but I had listened to a bunch of Genesis (Master Drive) music so I knew i wanted a crunchy bass synth.
It took a turn as I was scrolling through random synth presets and I happened to play a silly little 5th sequence on a recorderesque instrument, and it just sounded so grade-school like and poppy that I decided to make the rest of the song themed to a playground/Gameboy (or GameGear, but almost nobody had one of those and their 45 minute battery life!)
The Westcoast synth just happened.
I need better drum samples, but they worked okay here. Was really looking for high-hat sounds to replace what I had but don't know where to get drums (or how to make them), and never found a good rim shot (that I ended up leaving out).
